Fire retardant treatment on wood usually costs you the wood.
Exposed timber gets specified because of how it looks - the grain, the color, the tonal variation. Anything that obscures that defeats the reason it was chosen.
FR Clear dries clear. It's a fire retardant coating for wooden surfaces and other natural or synthetic materials, with a clear finish that lets materials keep their original color, appearance, and durability. It maintains the original properties of the materials it's applied to.
The performance: Class A flame spread and smoke development rating to ASTM E84 / UL 723, UL Classified on wood. Tested and certified to NFPA 701, 705, and 260.
It's water-based, non-toxic, odorless, and lightweight, and it applies by spraying, dripping, or padding.
One distinction worth being precise about: this is flame spread performance. It is not an hourly fire endurance rating.
