It’s not every day you pull a car out of the lake, but what was supposed to be a routine day of underwater drone training for the members of Engine 21 & 41 resulted in exactly that!

Thank you to our partners at Youngsville Dive Team to come out as the sun was setting to assist with the vehicle recovery operation.

The Wake County Sheriff’s Office is handling the investigation as to when this SUV ended up in the water.

🎃🚒 When the delivery truck showed up with 2,500 pumpkins, nobody asked if it was a two-person lift… 🚒🎃

Thanks to an outstanding team effort from the Northern Wake Fire Department and the Northern Wake Fire Auxiliary, all 2,500 pumpkins were unloaded, sorted, and ready for pumpkin season.

Today was a great reminder that our department family does much more than answer emergency calls. When there’s work to be done, our members and supporters show up, roll up their sleeves, and get it done together.

A sincere thank you to everyone who volunteered their time and energy today. Your hard work helps make the Pumpkin Patch one of our favorite annual traditions and supports the mission of Northern Wake Fire.

Now all that’s left is for the community to come help us find these pumpkins a good home! 🎃🍂

Welcome to the Northern Wake Fire Family!

Last night, Northern Wake Fire Department proudly welcomed 11 new firefighters into our ranks as they graduated from Wake County Fire Academy 17.

These individuals have demonstrated tremendous dedication, commitment, and professionalism throughout their academy experience. We have received outstanding feedback from academy instructors, who described this class as one of the most progressive, engaged, and motivated groups they have worked with in recent years.

Director Griff Bartlet, Chief Wright, Chief Silver, Chief Burton, and several members of the Northern Wake Fire Department were honored to attend the graduation ceremony and celebrate this important milestone with our newest firefighters.

In the photos, you’ll see our graduates alongside members of the command staff who were present, as well as a second photo featuring the families who have joined the Northern Wake Fire family right alongside them. We recognize that behind every firefighter is a strong support system, and we are grateful for the encouragement and sacrifices made by their loved ones.

As these firefighters begin the next chapter of their fire service journey, we look forward to supporting their continued growth, development, and success. We are excited to see the impact they will have on our department and the communities we serve.

🔥 Northern Wake Fire Department Announces New Assistant Chief of Career Services 🔥

The Northern Wake Fire Department is proud to announce the appointment of Roger “Cody” Dail as our new Assistant Chief of Career Services, effective November 2, 2026.

Chief Dail brings nearly two decades of emergency services experience and a strong commitment to serving the citizens of Wake County and surrounding communities.

Throughout his career, he has served with Back Swamp Volunteer Fire Department, Nine Mile Rescue & EMS, Orange County Emergency Management, Wake County EMS, and Durham Highway Fire Department, where he most recently held the rank of Captain.
In addition to his distinguished service throughout the region, Cody has been a valued member of the Northern Wake Fire Department family for the past five years as a part-time Fire Engineer. His knowledge of our organization, our personnel, and the communities we serve provides a unique foundation for success in this new leadership role.

Chief Dail holds an Associate of Applied Science in Emergency Management from Wayne Community College and a Bachelor of Science in Emergency & Disaster Management from Western Carolina University.

As Assistant Chief of Career Services, he will provide leadership and oversight to our Career Battalion Chiefs while managing key organizational programs including records management systems, department safety initiatives, and community risk reduction efforts.

Cody’s diverse background, proven leadership, and dedication to public service make him an outstanding addition to our executive leadership team. We are confident he will play an integral role in strengthening our organization and advancing our mission to serve the Northern Wake community.

Please join us in congratulating Chief Dail on this well-deserved appointment and wishing him success as he begins this new chapter of service and leadership.

🎃 Mark Your Calendars! 🎃

The Northern Wake Fire Auxiliary's Fall Festival is scheduled for Saturday, October 17, 2026, and we hope you'll come out and join us for a great day of fun, fellowship, and community support!

Our Auxiliary is made up of an incredible group of dedicated volunteers who work tirelessly behind the scenes to support the Northern Wake Fire Department and the firefighters who serve this community every day. Whether it's helping with special events, supporting our members and their families, or providing resources that enhance our department, they are always there when needed.

The truth is, they can only support us if you support them. The funds they raise help fill important gaps that traditional funding sources cannot always cover, allowing them to continue making a meaningful difference for our firefighters and our organization.
Simply put, without the unwavering support of our Auxiliary and this community, Northern Wake Fire Department would not be where it is today.
