Today at 12:00 noon, a dedicated team from the Northern Wake Fire Department, City of Raleigh, Wake Forest Fire, and Durham Highway Fire responded to a reported house fire on Pine Cove Court.

Upon arrival, our members encountered a significant amount of smoke from the chimney. Thanks to their hard work and, we were able to extinguish the fire and keep it contained to the chimney area.

At Northern Wake, we embrace the ā€œlines off, ladders upā€ mentality, and today’s incident showcased this proactive approach, leading to another positive outcome. Great work!

Reminder: If you have a wood-burning chimney, please remember to clean it regularly to prevent dangerous situations like this one! Stay safe!

Innovation is firefighter-driven—our hiring practices and operational development are led by those riding the trucks.

Public Notice

Notice of Public Election:

The Northern Wake Fire Department Board of Directors will be holding an election of Directors at the annual corporate meeting in mid-summer to fill the positions that are reaching end of term. The elected Directors will each serve a three year term. The Board is seeking candidates willing to serve their community by volunteering to provide governance to the non-profit corporation known as the Bay Leaf Volunteer Fire Department Inc., doing business as the Northern Wake Fire Department. šŸ”„ Yes, yes… we know.
You really want that campfire.
Or the burn pit.
Or to ā€œjust burn the field off real quickā€ because it’s spring and šŸ”„ fire is fun.

But let’s all take a collective deep breath, hold off just a bit longer, and maybe do a rain dance or two so we don’t turn half the county into a bonfire.

We’ll live. The grass will live. And we’d all prefer fewer ā€œunintended wildland experiences.ā€ 😌

Thanks N.C. Forest Service for keeping us honest and safe.
