Had the pleasure of working with and for the upcoming Midnight Division event, a dark dance event with a hypnotic Lynchian pulp noir soundscape at The Red Pavilion () in Brooklyn. Featuring sets by / / FERIAN I + Midnight performance by ritual guest If you’re in NYC this month, swing through on my behalf, upset I won’t be able to make it. Give a follow to keep you with their other events, it’s well worth it.

We are excited to begin showing you glimpses into the city that we call home - Forever Sigh. This city, the capital of the First Circle, has a deep rich history that you will come to learn about along the way with us. The Society works closely with The City on main projects, and we hope to be able to share some of those with you soon.

I have been working very hard, for a very long time, alongside other members of The Society to bring you a portal into our world, into Limbo.
-
Tomorrow we will be opening that portal, with the new Limbo Society website. We’re excited here in HQ, and we are looking forward to taking you into the next phase of Limbo with us.

Experiments in distortion. For these I start with a long-exposure self-portrait, and see how many ways I can chew up the image digitally. This is my brain massage.

“Mono no aware” is a Japanese concept that toughly translates to “the feeling of things,” or “the pathos of things,” with the somber understanding that Impermanence is a fundamental aspect of reality, and acknowledges the gentle sadness that one feels toward the transience of the world.

It first appeared in the Heian period of Japanese history (~794-1185), particularly derived from “The Tale of Genji,” considered by many scholars to be the first true novel in world history, where “aware” appears on almost every page. It was later popularized during the Edo period (~1603-1867), when an expanding working class and printing technologies made the tale available to a population that was becoming more and more literate. It eventually became a fundamental tenet to many schools of traditional Japanese philosophy.

This is different from Heraclitus’ “The only constant in life is change,” because it offers a qualifier to the experience of that change - the subtle sadness that accompanies it’s acknowledgment.

“Impermanence” is a fundamental principle for Limbo - everything comes to pass, the good and the bad, others, the self, everything. If you cling too hard you’ll only break your fingers.

More exercises in self-obliteration by one means or another 🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️.

Still here for the most part. Still scratching and clawing my way towards some vague light. Hope to share more of myself this year with you all.

Experiments with self-portraits and long exposures and disembodiment.

Preview of some updates to Limbo I’ve been working on and scrapping and working on and scrapping for way too long.

Typeface - “Consuming Judas” | Coming 2021 (pending the persistence of our present institutions [which I’m reluctantly optimistic about and have plenty of thoughts about {DM me if you need to process}]).

• “SELF-ISH” •

So I think that for the most part, the Self is a fluid and ever-changing psychological construct, a grouping of general ideas, dispositions, and notions tied together by the common thread of memory and locked in a physical brain, and you don’t have a “true self” that is completely fixed and absolute, and you get to decide (to a degree) what that is, every day, which is reassuring and something I have to tell my... uh... myself.

“But Tim, implying that you get to choose a constructed ‘Self’ implies a construct that does the choosing, which would be a kind of ‘meta-self’ - wouldn’t that be a ‘True Self’ as it werrrrrrre mermermer?”

Sure bro I think we’re getting into Jung-ish divisions between the conscious and the subconscious and how we think they communicate, but I think that maybe there’s only the perception of self to a degree, and I think there’s an entire planet of subconscious subterranean
creatures in your head that come in and out of focus at varying resolutions at various times due to varying external factors, and we cling to some of them and let go of others, and I think we have multiple selves, and other stuff, but I’m mostly just kind of flailing around in it. Anyway. Hey guys. How’s 2021 going so far? Good? Great.

I’ve put together a very very non-comprehensive Youtube playlist of quick, easily-digestible primer videos, called “What ‘Systemic Racism’ Means.” This is only a starting place - I will be adding to this playlist as I go along, and I would love, love, LOVE to start gathering any recommendations for additional videos to ADD TO this list. Please DM me links, titles, or recommendations to YouTube videos that you have found helpful, convicting, or informative.
This playlist is intended for people who aren’t quite sure what people mean when they hear “systemic racism,” because they’ve never directly encountered it, or for people who need a primer to many of the particular pieces of machinery that make this system, which dates back to before the United States existed, and the psychological and sociological conditions that led to its creation and enable its continued existence.
