Today was a fabulous day. I went for a demure look as I presented "The Language of Race" the first workshop in a four-part series called "The Active Accomplice: Lessons in Anti-Racism".

Disruspting racism isn't easy work, but it is WORTHY work. It is the work that I have been purposed to do. Anti-racism is INTENTIONAL work. Anti-racism is gritty. It forces you to confront what you've tried to ignore. It must be personal before it can be communal.

True Story:

A couple of years ago, I did a training in a part of the country that is known to be liberal. As I stood before them, watching them, and understanding that they believed themselves to be "allies". I opened with how beautiful the area was, and asked with a smile, "Can I buy a house on your street?" They hung their heads as the blood drained from their faces because a simple question exposed them.

When I do anti-racism training 99.9% of the people in the room identify as "liberal" or "progressive". They care about climate change, reproductive rights, equal pay (sort of), the rights of the disabled... But when I bring up race, racism, and the part they play in supporting, and exacting the system of wh.ite privilege, supremacy, and rage... This is why I have long said, "Progressivism often ends at race". Yes, my dear, you are progressive AND racist.
