Google’s data center in Lenoir, North Carolina, is featured in The Assembly’s article on economic development and supporting rural communities. Google has invested $4 billion into Lenoir while employing 400 people. Keeping energy costs down is a priority for companies like Apex Clean Energy, and is increasingly important during heatwaves. See American Clean Power’s report on the $114 million saved by wind, solar, and storage last July.

Clean energy saved the grid more than $114 million during the 3-day heatwave. Wholesale electricity markets with significant wind, solar, and energy storage representation saw lower electricity prices than those without.
