Wow! This book…it’s the longest book I’ve read for pleasure in a looonnnggg time! It is such a GREAT book! The book is really not about WEB DuBois but his love for black people told through a family - if that makes sense.
It made me laugh, cry, want to scream, and want to research my own family history. It’s complex - I can’t share all because there’s spoilers.
It highlights HBCUs, education- and there are references to North Carolina.
There are MANY trigger warnings ⚠️ and some parts are hard to read.
Also there are a TON of characters- not kidding here- it’s a 700 page book! I had to pull out the family tree many times. The author is pure genius!
Please read/listen to this one! It’s worth it!
