🍫🐶 This dog ate a potentially fatal amount of chocolate.

Even after inducing vomiting and removing a large amount of chocolate, there was still enough toxin left to be life-threatening. Because of that, activated charcoal had to be administered directly into the stomach under general anesthesia.

⚠️ Chocolate toxicity can cause:
• vomiting & diarrhea
• tremors or seizures
• dangerously high heart rate
• death

🚨 If your dog eats chocolate — contact a veterinarian immediately. The darker the chocolate, the more dangerous it is.

In the end, he fully recovered and is doing great!

☀️🐶 Heat Stroke Prevention in Pets 🐱🌡️

Summer is here ☀️ and with that the risk for a heat stroke in your pet exponentially rises, especially in the ones with shorter faces.

Here are some tips to keep your pet safe and enjoy the summer together:

🚫 Never:
• Leave pets in a parked car
• Walk during peak heat hours
• Leave them without shade or water
• Use tight muzzles in hot weather
(except basket muzzles that allow open-mouth panting)

✅ Do:
✔ Provide fresh cool water 💧
✔ Walk early morning or evening 🌅
✔ Use shade, fans, or cooling mats
✔ Take frequent breaks outside

🚨 Signs of heat stroke:
• Heavy panting
• Drooling
• Weakness or collapse
• Vomiting
• Bright red gums

If you suspect heat stroke, move your pet to a cool area and contact a veterinarian immediately ❤️🐾

Dogs really out here treating the world like an all-you-can-eat buffet. 🫠🐶

The good news? Sometimes that appetite works in our favor… like this patient happily slurping down activated charcoal like it’s a gourmet snack. ⚫️😂

10/10 enthusiasm.
0/10 survival instincts.

Why diagnostics matter in veterinary medicine

Our patients don’t tell us what hurts.
In fact… they’re wired to hide it.

So what we see on the outside?
Often just a vague clue — not the answer.

🐾 Hunched back / tense belly
• Abdominal pain
• Back/neck pain
• Pancreatitis
• Urinary obstruction

🐾 Vomiting / diarrhea
• GI disease (dietary indiscretion, infection, foreign body)
• Addison’s disease
• Toxin exposure
• Metabolic disease

🐾 Lethargy
• Pain
• Infection
• Anemia
• Heart disease

Same symptoms.
Completely different diagnoses.

That’s why we don’t guess — we test 🔬
Because the right treatment depends on the right answer.

🐹 Guinea pigs are not as simple as they seem

Many people think guinea pigs are “easy” pets — but they actually have very specific needs 👇

🥕 They cannot produce vitamin C
Without it, they can quickly develop serious health issues

🦷 Their teeth grow their entire life
Improper diet can lead to painful dental problems

🤒 They hide illness very well
As prey animals, they often don’t show signs until it’s serious

🚨 Lethargy, not eating, or decreased activity — don’t wait, see a veterinarian

💚 Small pet — big responsibility

❓Did you know a guinea pig can become seriously ill in as little as 24 hours without eating?

Driven by passion. Growing with purpose. 🐾✨

Meet Sonnet, who has officially stepped into her new role as a Veterinary Assistant — a milestone that reflects years of dedication, growth, and heart 💙🐶🐱

Veterinary medicine isn’t something she stumbled into — it’s something she’s always known she was meant to do 💭 From dreaming about this career as a child to living it every day, her journey has been intentional every step of the way 🌱

She began as a kennel technician, building a strong foundation in animal care and behavior 🐾 and worked her way up through determination and a genuine love for her patients ❤️ With a BA in Biology 🎓 and currently enrolled in a veterinary technician program, she continues to invest in becoming the best she can be 📚

What drives her most? Learning something new every day — constantly growing her skills to improve comfort, care, and outcomes for every patient she touches 🩺✨

If you’ve been in our clinic, you’ve likely witnessed this transition firsthand — her confidence, her skill, and her ability to step up exactly when it’s needed 🙌

Outside of the clinic, you’ll find her enjoying horror movies 🎬, cycling 🚴‍♀️, rock climbing 🧗‍♀️, and spending time with her dog, Mayhem 🐕

We’re incredibly proud of her and excited for what’s ahead 🤍🚀
