🧠 WISDOM WEDNESDAY: Your Medicare Decision Is Also a Financial Decision
Tomorrow begins Medicare's Annual Enrollment Period, and for millions of seniors, that means it's time to review their Medicare coverage for the coming year.
But here's today's wisdom:
Don't look at Medicare as an isolated healthcare decision.
Look at it as part of your overall financial and family plan.
I believe:1
❤️ Financial Planning Is Family Planning.
Why?
Because the financial decisions we make as we age don't affect only us.
They can affect our spouse.
Our children.
Our caregivers.
Our retirement income.
And ultimately, the legacy we hope to leave behind.
💧 That's also where a potential financial leak can hide.
If you're approaching or living in retirement, failing to review your healthcare coverage and changing needs may result in expenses you weren't expecting.
During this Medicare enrollment season, don't automatically assume that what worked for you before will still be the best fit for the year ahead.
Take time to review:
✔ Your current doctors and specialists
✔ Your prescription medications
✔ Your preferred pharmacy
✔ Premiums and potential out-of-pocket costs
✔ Plan networks and coverage rules
✔ Benefits that are important to your individual healthcare needs
And then take the conversation one step further.
Ask:
“How does my healthcare strategy fit into my retirement-income, insurance, estate, and legacy plans?”
Because retirement planning isn't only about how much money you've accumulated.
It's about helping that money support the life you want to live.
🌱 YOUR WISDOM WEDNESDAY CHALLENGE:
Sit down with your spouse, adult children, or another trusted family member and discuss these three questions:
1️⃣ Do we understand my Medicare coverage for the coming year?
2️⃣ Have my health, prescriptions, providers, or financial circumstances changed?
3️⃣ If an unexpected health or financial event occurred, does my family know what plans and resources I have in place?
That's where healthcare planning becomes family planning.
