Letting go is rarely just about the stuff.

Our belongings can represent people we love, memories we treasure, and chapters of life we are not quite ready to leave behind.

That is why I take a thoughtful, supportive approach with my clients—helping them honor what their belongings have meant while deciding what still belongs in the chapter ahead.

You do not have to navigate the stuff—or the emotions attached to it—alone.

Nobody wants to admit it, but at some point, the things we worked so hard to collect can start to feel like a burden.

As the saying goes:

“The three stages of life: Wanting stuff. Accumulating stuff. Getting rid of stuff.”

It may make us laugh, but that final stage is often more emotional than expected. Our belongings are tied to memories, milestones, people we love, and chapters of our lives we may not feel ready to close.

Letting go does not mean the memories no longer matter. It means thoughtfully deciding what to keep, what to share with family and friends, and what can serve someone else.

That process can create more than space. It can create a safer, calmer, and more manageable home for the chapter ahead.

Feeling overwhelmed by the decisions? Your Next Chapter can help you sort through a lifetime of belongings with patience, compassion, and a clear plan. Contact me to schedule a complimentary consultation.

Sometimes stepping away is the best reminder of what really matters.

After a few days away camping, unplugging, and enjoying a technology-free vacation with my husband and our dog, I’m reminded how much we all need time to slow down and enjoy the simple things.

No constant notifications. No rushing from one thing to the next. Just fresh air, quiet mornings, meals outside, conversation, and time to be present.

It made me think about how often our homes — and our lives — can become filled with so much noise, both physical and mental, that we forget how peaceful simple can feel.

That is really at the heart of what I do through Your Next Chapter. Whether someone is preparing for a move, downsizing, organizing, or simply trying to make home feel more manageable, the goal is not just to get rid of things. The goal is to create space for what matters most in this season of life.

Sometimes the next chapter begins with something as simple as clearing a little space, slowing down, and remembering what brings you peace.

If you or someone you love could use help creating a little more calm and breathing room at home, I’d be honored to help.

As we head into this Independence Day weekend and prepare to celebrate America’s 250th birthday, I am pausing with deep gratitude for the country we call home.

Two hundred and fifty years ago, our Founding Fathers set in motion a bold and courageous vision — a nation built on liberty, self-government, individual rights, and the belief that freedom was worth risking everything to secure. Their plan was not simple or without sacrifice, but it gave birth to a nation unlike any other.
Freedom is not free. It has been defended over generations by men and women who believed this country was worth protecting through service, sacrifice, faith, and perseverance.

May we celebrate this weekend with grateful hearts — honoring those who founded this nation, those who have defended it, and the responsibility we all share to preserve the freedoms we have been given.

Wishing you and your family a happy and safe Independence Day weekend.

Happy 250th Birthday, America!

There’s no better way to start the day than meeting with Mary Alice of Mary Alice Insurance Solutions over a great cup of coffee to discuss how we can collaborate to better serve our clients.

One of the things I love most about this work is building relationships with other professionals who care deeply about helping people through life’s transitions with thoughtfulness and care.

And the morning was made even better by Hatem, owner of Village Coffee House at historic Durant Village, welcoming us and serving up the perfect cup of coffee.

Grateful for good conversations, meaningful connections, and wonderful local places that bring people together.

This weekend was special for our family.

We celebrated my mom’s 93rd birthday and my father-in-law’s 85th birthday with family and friends. In the middle of busy schedules and full lives, it meant so much that people made the time to come, visit, share a meal, take pictures, and simply be together.

Days like this are a reminder that every chapter of life matters. The stories, the memories, the people, and even the “stuff” that comes with a long life all have meaning.

At Your Next Chapter, that is really at the heart of what I do — helping families honor where they’ve been while making the next step feel a little less overwhelming.

A special thank you to Zach Jamieson with Lori’s Food Truck and Catering for catering the event, and to Cupcakes’ D'Amour for the cake and gluten-free cupcakes.

I am grateful for a day spent celebrating life, family, friendship, and the people we love.
