Our sincere condolences go out to the family, friends, coworkers and all those affected by the tragic loss of a fellow security officer in Merced County.

The role of a security officer is sometimes taken lightly, but incidents like this are a heartbreaking reminder that there are very real risks that come with this profession. Every day, security professionals report to work not knowing what they may encounter, with the responsibility of protecting people, property and the communities they serve.

There is a level of danger in this profession that we hope none of our officers ever have to face.

From all of us at Intercept Security, we extend our deepest sympathies to this officer’s loved ones and colleagues. We also stand with security professionals everywhere who continue to put on the uniform and serve each day.

One of the bittersweet parts of security is asking the unhoused to leave a property. It’s never something we take lightly.

But respect and kindness still work. Everyone peacefully respected our request, gathered their belongings, cleaned up their area, and left the client’s property without incident. Today was a Good Day!

Security can be firm without forgetting humanity.
