Creating Unity and Fun with the Cleveland Cavaliers Executive Leadership Team!
Last week, I had the privilege of facilitating a Boat Build Challenge for the Cleveland Cavaliers' Executive Leadership Team at their annual kick-off meeting in Florida. With three new members joining the team, they wanted a memorable way to strengthen bonds, reinforce their vision, mission, and values, and emphasize the importance of working as "One Team."
The challenge? Teams had to design, build, and sail a boat—using just cardboard and tape! They also had to create a team name, craft a captain's hat, present a 30-second commercial, and race their boat across the pool at the beautiful Ritz-Carlton in Sarasota.
It wasn’t all smooth sailing.
Just 24 hours before the event, Hurricane Helene caused significant damage to the pool area. But thanks to the incredible staff at the Ritz-Carlton, the pool was race-ready in time for the event.
I’m thrilled to report that two out of three boats successfully
crossed the finish line. One team, however, never quite made it past the dock 😊 – but everyone left with lasting memories, stronger connections, and a renewed commitment to working together.
