IF YOU ARE UNDER A FLOOD WARNING

⛈️Find safe shelter right away.
⛈️Do not walk, swim or drive through flood waters. Turn Around, Don’t Drown!
⛈️Remember, just six inches of moving water can knock you down, and one foot of moving water can sweep your vehicle away.
⛈️Stay off bridges over fast-moving water.
⛈️Depending on the type of flooding:
⭐️Evacuate if told to do so.
⭐️Move to higher ground or a higher floor.
⭐️ Stay where you are.

Well, yesterday was fun wasn’t it! As we get further into the summer season, it’s very important to remain weather aware, especially during storms like we saw yesterday. After the tornado warning was cancelled for Portage County, we noticed a number of comments on our post regarding the outdoor warning sirens.

It’s very important that you do not rely on these outdoor warning sirens to be your only method for receiving alerts. If you’re looking for a more analog way to receive alerts in a very technological society, we suggest getting a hand-crank weather radio. This type of radio even comes in handy when there’s a power outage in the area as well.

The PC EMA uses social media platforms like Facebook, and a free downloadable app to reach a number of residents, and sometimes even communities in surrounding counties. During events like yesterday’s tornado warning, we tend to see an increase in new faces on our page. Because of this, we want to make sure we address some of the frequently asked questions since we can’t get to everyone’s comments.

If you have any lingering questions, please let us know! And remember, always be weather aware.
