We have been pretty busy prepping for equine affair the past few weeks, but I feel that Hades needed his own post! ❤️

This sweet boy went home Sunday and in just one short month, he went from being unbroke and super timid and nervous around people-and would not let anyone touch his back legs- to allowing me to ride him and we were able to trim his hooves, after working consistently with his back legs! He progressed quite well, and much to my surprise (keep in mind he was a WILD HORSE) he had a nice walk trot and canter under saddle by the time he went home! I am so excited to see this boy grow and progress with his owner ❤️

It still amazes me that a horse who once roamed the range, wild and free with no fences or saddles on his back, has built enough trust with me to allow me to ride him. One thing I have learned throughout this experience with Hades is that you CAN NOT 'force' a mustang to do what YOU want him to do..... But instead you must ASK him if HE allows you. I'm not sure who trained who throughput this journey 🤔 ok I'm joking, but I sure did learn alot about myself throughout this process.... And I am beyond thankful for this opportunity and experience ❤️

This guy has come from being a wild horse, to a gentle and trusting boy who has accepted the bridle, saddle, a rider, and starting to let me lift his back legs! It takes alot for an animal who, previously all he thought about was survival, to now understand he doesn't have to worry about that.... But to now accept all the changes of the "human world". Bridling, saddling, and riding a domestic horse for the first time is MUCH different than doing it with these guys. They have alot of emotional barriers to overcome before they can trust enough to let someone handle them all over, and get on their backs. It has been a wonderful journey so far.... But he still has a LONG way to go! I am proud to be a part of his story ❤️

And the feeling of pride and satisfaction I get when I turn him back out after our session, and he doesn't walk away but rather stands there and stares at me as if to say "don't go"..... THAT feeling is undescribable.... And this is why I do what I do ❤️ to help a once wild animal, trust humans enough to allow me to ride him and create a bond with him ...... That's what it's all about 🥰

Hades is becoming quite the gentleman! This guy is learning to accept the saddle, bridle and a rider! He is still very unsure of new people that come around him, and he still isn't comfortably letting me lift his hind legs just yet, but we are taking things slowly and one small step at a time. I'm learning that the trick with mustangs is to ask them to do something (not to tell them) and they will let you know when they are ready for the next step. The hardest thing about training a once wild horse is that you have to understand where they came from. Look at life from their perspective. They were once wild and free to do as they wish, now they are tied up and being asked to accept human touch and be ridden. That must take a toll on their minds and their spirit. Only when they truly trust you will they allow you to treat them as you would a "normal" domesticated horse. And boy does he sure make me have a deeper understanding of what patience really is! I definitely cannot move to fast with this guy. He let's me know when he's had enough. And if I were to try forcing him to do something he doesn't feel he is ready for, that would only set us back in the long run. You can't go about training these guys like you typically would a "normal" horse. At the end of the day, if he is doing better than he was the day before, that means we are doing our job ❤️ he is such a sweet, smart, and willing boy and I know he will go far in his riding career 💗

Let the 2022 training season begin! This week we got in a mustang to be started! This guy is sooo sweet and smart, but still quite unsure of new people. He needs A LOT of work on picking up his hind legs, and getting used to people walking up to him and touching him. I am taking the process alot different with him than I would with any other horse. But our goal is to have him broke to ride this month! Stay tuned for updates!

This gorgeous boy is only 8 and has already been through so much in his life... Going from wild-with no fences containing him, to being confined in a fence and being trained to ride takes a pretty hefty toll on these mustang's minds. I am committed to making this experience as easy and as gentle for him as possible as not to traumatize him anymore than he has been in the last few years of his life! His owner hopes to turn him into a jumper one day and use him for 4h ❤️ they already have quite the bond! I am very excited to start our journey together and see what this boy can do!

Yesterday was our second ever dressage fix a test. And Cadbury and I placed 1st with a score of 68! This sweet, amazing horse has taught me so much and I am beyond grateful for the opportunity I had with her. She went back home after the show, for others to enjoy her the way I have ❤️ But that just opens a spot for our next trainee coming at the beginning of March!

Don't get me wrong, this cold absolutely sucks.... But it sure is beautiful ❤️ and there is still work to be done!!
