This is what happens when you neglect to clean the deck of your mower. Topside and underneath. Most decks come with a water hose port attached. Even push mowers. If yours does not have a wash port, one can be installed inexpensively to prevent rust and rot to your mower deck. Otherwise, look up the price/cost of replacing the deck and you'll see that cleaning the deck is more than worth it.
