Iron Horse Hobby House We are a full line hobby shop that stocks a product mix which will satisfy most everyone's requirements, from the beginner, to the serious hobby enthusiast. Mr.

Iron Horse Hobby House was established in 1979 when the Schmehl family purchased Haines Hobby House from Mel Haines. Haines had constructed a new building at 60 South Sixth Street in Reading, PA in 1947 to house his budding hobby business. And we are still operating in that location - that's over 60 years of combined service to hobbyists from the same location! We have continued, for over 30 years

, with the tradition established by Mr. Haines of providing a large variety of hobby products at a fair price, and providing excellent customer service. Our knowledgeable and helpful staff is always ready to assist you. We carry products offered by all the major hobby manufacturers, and many products offered by a number of smaller manufacturers as well. In some instances, we may not have an item in stock, but we are always willing to place a special order to fulfill a customer's need. We also provide repair and tune-up service for many of the products we sell - from R/C cars, trucks, and helicopters, to model and toy trains. We are factory certified and authorized to repair both Lionel and MTH electric trains. We also provide DCC decoder installation service.

HISTORIC: For a brief moment in Pittston Township, two legends shared the rails. On the left, Union Pacific Big Boy 4014, the largest operating steam locomotive in the world. On the right, Reading & Northern 2102, a restored Pennsylvania icon built in 1945.

Seeing either one is rare. Seeing them side by side is the kind of railroad history that generations wait a lifetime to witness.
