Yesterday was National Volunteer Firefighter Recognition Day, and while we didn’t get the chance to make a post, it’s because our volunteers were doing exactly what they always do—serving our community while balancing jobs, family responsibilities, school, and everything else life throws their way.

To every member of Lincoln County Fire District 4: thank you for your dedication, your sacrifices, and your unwavering commitment to protecting our community. Whether it’s responding in the middle of the night, leaving work early, or giving up time with loved ones, your willingness to serve does not go unnoticed.

🚩 RED FLAG WARNING 🚩

A Red Flag Warning has been issued for our area from 11:00 AM Friday through 11:00 PM Saturday. Critical fire weather is expected with low humidity, dry fuels, and breezy conditions that can cause any fire to spread rapidly.

Please do your part to prevent wildfires:
• Avoid any activity that could create sparks.
• Do not drive or park on dry grass.
• Secure trailer chains so they don’t drag.
• Avoid campfires and outdoor burning.
• Postpone target shooting, fireworks, and yard work that could produce sparks.

If you see smoke or flames, call 911 immediately. Early reporting gives firefighters the best chance to keep a small fire from becoming a major incident.

Our crews, along with firefighters across Eastern Washington, continue to respond to multiple fires. Help us keep new fires from starting by making smart, fire-safe choices this weekend.

One spark is all it takes.

Correction- LCFD 4 sent crews to the Autumn Lane Fire, Mitre Rock/Fort Spokane Fire AND the Espanola Fires last night. All crews are now back home and resting.

Today is a heartbreaking day for Washington as communities across our state begin to see the devastation left by yesterday’s wildfires and are still having to deal with ongoing wildfires.

Please keep everyone impacted in your thoughts and prayers, and help us by doing your part to prevent human-caused wildfires.

🔥 Red Flag Warning Days Require Extra Caution 🔥

Just because something isn’t prohibited doesn’t always mean it’s a good idea.

On Red Flag Warning days, hot temperatures, low humidity, and strong winds create the perfect conditions for a small spark to become a fast-moving wildfire.

We ask our community to please think twice before doing activities that could create sparks or heat, including:
• Welding or cutting metal
• Using equipment that may throw sparks
• Mowing or working in dry grass
• Parking vehicles on tall, dry vegetation
• Harvesting grain or working in dry fields

We understand harvest is a critical time for our local farmers, and we appreciate everything they do to feed our communities. We simply ask that you carefully consider the fire conditions before heading into the field, ensure equipment is well maintained, and have a plan in place should a fire start.

Even if an activity is legal, delaying it until conditions improve can help protect lives, property, and our community.

We all play a role in preventing wildfires. Thank you for doing your part to keep Lincoln County safe.

Red Flag Warnings are out for all of Central and Eastern Washington and North Idaho on Saturday. Extreme Fire Weather is forecast from 2 PM-8 PM Saturday, with SW winds 20-30 MPH with gusts up to 50 MPH for the Waterville Plateau, Okanogan Valley, Columbia Basin, Colville Reservation, Spokane area, Palouse, and Snake River. This is a particularly dangerous situation. Very rapid fire growth can be expected with ongoing and new fires.

Avista is advising of a potential fire weather power safety shut down Saturday for areas around Little Falls and Long Lake.

Red Flag warning in effect. High winds, dry conditions, and elevated temperatures mean conditions are right for rapid fire growth. Please refrain from any activities that ignite fires today.

If you were down in Edwall today for the All Edwall Yard Sale and stopped by Christian Heritage for breakfast, you had the privilege of being served by members of Lincoln County Fire District 4’s Edwall Station!

From flipping pancakes and scrambling eggs to grilling sausage, pouring coffee, and visiting with neighbors, our volunteers were happy to lend a hand and help make the morning a success.

Thank you to everyone who came out to support the breakfast and our amazing Edwall community. We love opportunities like this to connect with the people we serve—not just on emergency calls, but around the breakfast table too.

We hope everyone had a great day at the yard sales, and we’ll see you at the next community event! 🚒🥞❤️

Unfortunately, critical fire weather is moving into our area tomorrow. While temperatures may seem cooler, the fire danger will be increasing.

Please do your part to help prevent wildfires before they start. If you see smoke or flames, don’t hesitate to call 911 immediately. Early reporting allows firefighters to respond quickly and often makes the difference between a small, manageable fire and a large, fast-moving wildfire.
