Today, we celebrate 250 years of courage, commitment, and honor. A legacy forged on November 10, 1775, when the Continental Marines were established at Tun Tavern in Philadelphia.

For two and a half centuries, Marines have stood ready to defend our nation. From the shores of Tripoli to the mountains of Afghanistan, and everywhere freedom has called. Their unwavering dedication, discipline, and brotherhood embody the very best of what it means to serve.

As we mark this historic milestone, we extend our deepest gratitude to all Marines, past, present, and future, and to their families, whose sacrifices make their service possible.
