The best case acceptance strategy isn’t a script. It’s curiosity.

Many dental teams ask me for the perfect script. But scripts don’t build trust. Great questions do.

Imagine ending your clinical explanation with questions like:

• “Tell me your thoughts?”
• “How does this fit with what you were expecting?”
• “How concerned are you with what we discovered today?”

Those questions invite conversation instead of creating resistance. Patients don’t want to be talked into treatment. They want confidence that they’re making the right decision.

When your team learns to listen first and educate second, case acceptance naturally improves. That’s exactly what we coach dental teams to do every month.

If your case acceptance is low, don’t immediately blame fees.

Most practices assume patients are saying “no” because treatment is expensive.

In my experience, that’s rarely the primary reason.

Patients usually hesitate because one of these questions hasn’t been answered:

• Do I really understand the problem?
• Can I trust this recommendation?
• Is this truly important?
• Do I feel comfortable asking questions?

When those questions remain unanswered, patients postpone treatment—even if they can afford it.

That’s why we coach teams to spend less time explaining procedures and more time discovering what’s important to the patient.

The best case presenters don’t convince. They connect. Connection builds trust. Trust leads to commitment.

That’s how case acceptance improves without adding pressure.

The problem isn’t usually the treatment plan.

The problem is the conversation.

Patients don’t want to feel like they’re being pressure “sold.” They want to feel understood.

Instead of saying:
❌ “You need to schedule a crown.”

Try asking:
✅ “How concerned are you about this decaying tooth?”
✅ “How do you feel about this plan?”

When patients feel heard, trust grows. And trust changes everything.
