Have you ever heard of a Closing the Bones ceremony? It's a traditional postpartum ceremony that typically happens on day 40 after having baby, but it can really happen anytime postpartum (even 50 years postpartum!). It includes an herbal bath, warming tea, light body work, belly and foot massage, and at the end you're laying all swaddled up in rebozos like the picture below. I say a blessing over you and do some work with a tuning fork, then you're released, given some more tea, and baby is brought to you.
It's incredibly relaxing to the nervous system, stimulates the vegus nerve, increases circulation, helps with healing, and brings closure. You know how it feels after you have a baby-like your organs are trying to figure out how to get back to normal and there's a big empty space where the baby was? This totally helps with that.
If you're a postpartum doula client, this ceremony is part of what I do for you. If you want it as a standalone service, that is an option, too! (It's a great gift for a mama-to-be.)
