Back in September,

Local 1206 held our annual Mike Bettley Memorial Golf Outing, we are excited to announce we have raised a total of $28,198!

After expenses, we were able to donate $14,709 between MDA and the scholarship fund at Schoolcraft Community College!

Since starting the golf outing, we have been able to send 25 individuals to the Fire/Police academy at Schoolcraft Community College, helping the next generation of first responders begin their careers and serve their communities.

We have also been proud to make significant donations to the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) over the years!

We would like to extend a huge thank you to everyone that donated, sponsored, participated, and supported this event. This outing would not have been successful year after year without all the support we received.

We also would like to give a special thank you to B.C. Pielecha, FF Perkins, and his family! Putting on a golf outing of this size is no easy task, they put in countless hours of work throughout the year, and their dedication is what helps make it a success every year!

When: Every third Wednesday of the month

Time: 10:00AM – 3:30 PM

How: By appointment only

Your car seat will be properly installed, and caregivers will be taught how to correctly install it themselves.

This is why we do what we do!

Special shout out to the crew members on a job well done!

Thank you to the family for taking the time to stop by the station and to thank the crew.

Yesterday’s open house brought a special reunion. Scott and his family stopped by to thank the crew who performed lifesaving efforts when he suffered a cardiac arrest back in March.

Unit 3’s North End crew—Lieutenant Coleman (pictured right), Engineer Baird, Firefighter Philley (pictured left), and Firefighter Carlington—performed CPR and other resuscitation efforts for approximately 30 minutes before achieving a return of spontaneous circulation (ROSC), meaning his heart was once again circulating blood on its own.

We don’t always have the opportunity to reconnect with the people we help during their most critical moments. Seeing him return months later and having the chance to speak with him and his family made this open house all the more meaningful.

We are grateful he and his family took the time to visit, and proud of this crew’s teamwork, dedication, and persistence. We wish him continued progress and strength on his road to recovery.

This past Sunday,
Local 1206 hosted the 15th annual Mike Bettley Memorial Golf Outing at Glenhurst Golf Course.

Even with the rain, we had an incredible turnout and wanted to give a huge thank you to everyone who made the day possible! Thank you to everyone who came out, played, and contributed to the event. Your generosity is not unnoticed and it makes an impact.

It was a fantastic day, and we can't wait to see everyone again next year!

Congratulations to Battalion Chief Roy Birchmeier who is retiring after 26 years of service with the Redford Township Fire Department.

B.C. Birchmeier held many roles during his time of service, including being vice president on the union board and in charge of fire gear.

B.C. Birchmeier served the township with courage, compassion, and dedication.

25 years ago, our country was forever changed.

Today we honor, and remember all the 2,977 lives lost on September 11th, 2001, including the 343 FDNY firefighters who made the ultimate sacrifice in the service of others.

We remember their courage, their sacrifice, and the families and loved ones they left behind.

We will never forget.
