Today is Rare Disease day - the official day we celebrate the tremendous impact that those with rare diseases make in our community AND acknowledge how far we still have to go in making all spaces accessible. There is much work to be done in developing and improving effective medications, safe and accessible travel, and home/job/family support for maximizing independence. To those with reading this with a rare disease and to those that support them - Wave Therapies sees you and appreciates the color, texture and depth you bring to the fabric of our world.

Today is National Rare Disease Day. The staff at Wave Therapies is honored to be a trusted part of the care team for many individuals with rare diseases. We have been enriched by people with rare disease and their passion, resilience, creativity and love for the same kind of coffee we love. Having a rare disease adds to who you are but is not a defining stamp. We are proud to support such groups as CureSMA, Cure Duchenne, Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy, Rett Syndrome Research Trust, The ALS Association and more. Each of these groups supports individuals in our community with support, research and more stable tomorrow. If you have a rare disease and are reading this - you are a valuable part of the Wave Therapies community. If you can support research for rare diseases please look to some of the groups above - they do amazing things.

Today is national caregiver day. The PTs at Wave Therapies have worked with the most amazing, dedicated, passionate and creative caregivers that we believe walk this planet. If you are a caregiver, your energies do not go unnoticed by our team. Thank you for all you do to improve the ability for others to engage in their community and improve independence in a world that is not always designed for everyone's independence. You make a difference.

Wave Therapies had the opportunity to be at the Cure SMA National Conference in Austin a few weeks ago. Delta Airlines had their wheelchair accessible seat prototype there for folks to see and try out. Check out this article from last year on this product and the potential for people with disabilities to travel in the safest way for them - in their chairs. Like what you see - make sure to let Delta and your government representatives know that it is important for all of us to travel safely.

The airline showed off the prototype at the Aircraft Interiors Expo in Hamburg on Tuesday.
