We’re hosting a fundraiser for the Women & Children’s Center of Sierra (WACCS) in Reno, NV. This nonprofit works tirelessly to help local women escape poverty and improve the lives of their children, and they need your support. Together, we can help WACCS nearly double its capacity to provide essential items, such as food, diapers and shoes to our community members in need.
THE NEED
For women living in poverty, each day can be a struggle. A struggle to meet their daily needs and those of their children. A struggle to ensure adequate food, housing, clothing, diapers, transportation, or even personal safety. For women in crisis, WACCS is there to help them manage day-to-day needs and to create a path forward, out of poverty.
WACCS does this through a wide variety of free client-advised services, including educational and life skills classes, domestic violence assistance, employment preparation and job search assistance, English as a second language courses (ESL) and they distribute an array of everyday essentials including:
- Food
- Baby diapers
- Baby formula
- Cribs & car seats
- Toys & birthday/holiday gifts
- Clothes, jackets & shoes (for women, children & men)
- And much, much more
THE IMPACT
And here is where this fundraiser comes into play and you can help support the efforts of WAACS. You see, it takes a lot of storage space and organization to provide such an array of essential items, and WAACS can only give out as much as they can store at their center. Currently, they serve 300 women and children every month, but what if we could help them serve more?
Over the next few months, I am volunteering my services as a professional organizer to help them do more with their current space and storage capacity. With my expertise and a little financial help from you, we can nearly double their storage capacity! That means WAACS can almost double the amount of essential items they store and distribute, like food.
Your financial help will allow us to purchase the organizing products we need to improve the center’s organization and storage capacity. We’ll need new shelving units, bins, storage cabinets and other organizing products to maximize their space and improve their storage systems. These improvements will also make it easier for their staff to receive, store, access and distribute all the essential items and resources they provide to the community.

WACCS does a tremendous amount of work with limited resources. They operate with a minimal budget and just a handful of employees to help their clients. They’re able to keep their doors open with the support of grants and donations from local foundations, corporate giving, and caring people like you.
