This week at BNI Nooners, Alexa Peters, administrator at Tahoe Deck walked us through what it really takes to build a deck in the Tahoe Basin, and it was clear this team has it down to a science.

Building in the basin comes with its own set of challenges, from permitting to short building seasons to mountain logistics. If you're thinking about buying new construction, bring your agent before you ever step into the model home. The friendly sales team at a new community is there to represent the builder, and that's exactly their job. You deserve someone whose job is to represent you. Many builders also have a first-visit registration policy, so if you sign in without an agent, they may not recognize one you bring in later, and getting that representation after the fact can end up costing you.

Every chapter has people who set the pace, and at BNI Nooners we have two who absolutely raised the bar this quarter.

Ginger Marphis with Ginger Marphis - Fathom Realty - Reno Nevada Realtor S.177579 led the chapter in one-to-ones. Those meetings are where real relationships get built, where we learn what each other does and who we can send their way. Ginger shows up for that work week after week, and the whole room is stronger because of it.

Jill Rutherford with OCG Creative took the cake for the most TYFCB and referrals. That number represents real dollars changing hands and real clients getting taken care of, and it speaks to how much Jill gives to this group and how much trust she has earned in it.

These two are powerhouses, and we wouldn't be where we are without them.

We also want to give a big shout-out to Owen Nordberg of WorkGrain, this week's Golden Mic winner for the best commercial. Alex has spent years with grease under her nails. She's worked on cars, worked in shops, and paid her dues in an industry she knows inside and out. Along the way she noticed something important: shops are great at fixing cars, but the conversation between the technician and the customer is often where things break down.

That's the gap Alex set out to close. As The Real Coach, she works with service technicians and mechanics to help them communicate clearly with the people who rely on them. Great mechanics don't always speak the same language as someone who just wants to know why their car is making that noise, and Alex helps bridge that divide so both sides walk away feeling heard, informed, and happy with the result.

Aaron Taylor of A&C Pest Management turned his BNI Nooners presentation into a fun pest quiz today. Did you know carpenter ants tunnel through wood but don't eat it, rodent teeth never stop growing, and there are about 17 million flies per person on Earth? His chrysanthemum gifts came with a lesson too, since those flowers inspired many of today's common pest sprays.

Alvin from Happy Kamper RV Services opened his BNI presentation with a fun twist. He told us who doesn't need him: folks who fully trust the salesperson, believe every RV is built with top quality materials, figure inspectors never find a thing, or assume the rig is fine because the previous owners seemed really nice. For everyone else, there's Alvin. He's certified in just about everything RV related, from plumbing and electrical to thorough pre-purchase inspections.
