Last week Nick from RSJ (Reno Sparks Janitorial) reminded us of something a lot of business owners overlook: who cleans your space directly impacts your bottom line, your team’s morale, and what customers think when they walk through your door.

Here’s what Nick sees over and over. Companies bring cleaning in-house to save money, then watch good employees leave because nobody wants that job. Or they struggle to keep up and their facility starts to look like it. The truth is outsourcing janitorial actually saves 15 to 30% compared to cleaning in-house, and it frees your team to focus on what they actually do.

RSJ isn’t just mop and bucket. Nick and his team offer facility assessments and benchmark reviews, essentially checkups to make sure your space is where it needs to be. They provide flexible pricing starting at $345 a month with only 30-day contracts. Their people go through background checks, they communicate well, and they’ve got real experience with medical offices, all floor types, everything in between.

Know a business that’s had a bad experience with cleaning services before? Nick’s supervision and short contract terms prove he stands behind his work. Know someone in a medical office, a retail space, or any facility that needs a partner they can trust? That’s a referral for RSJ.

Connect with Nick at RSJ.

Last Wednesday we had Jill Rutherford from OCG walk us through something a lot of local businesses are getting wrong: they’re losing customers because they don’t understand their own digital footprint. Not knowing how SEO, AEO, GEO, and AI work in your favor is costing you.

That’s where OCG comes in. They know these acronyms inside and out, and more importantly, they know how to make them work for your specific business. The proof isn’t in theory. It’s in the results. Local restaurants, trades, law firms, small shops here in town have trusted OCG with their digital space and watched themselves come in first for the searches that actually matter to their customers.

If you know someone running their own ads and wondering if it’s working. If you know a business under 15 people whose website hasn’t been touched in years. If you know a local shop worried that they’re invisible online. That’s a referral for Jill.

OCG is offering packages starting at 399 a month, with customer service that backs up their expertise.

Let’s connect the businesses in our network with people who actually understand the digital game.

Kristy Phillips started making beeswax candles 16 years ago because she learned how awful and toxic the everyday candles were. After lots of research and sticky messes, she figured out something better. For years they were just Christmas gifts for family and friends. Then people started asking for refills. When her family encouraged her to turn it into a business, Four Wings Candle Company was born in 2023.

Since then, the growth has been exponential. You’ll find them at craft fairs and events around Reno, in the retail space at Spa West and the Peppermill, with more locations coming soon. They also do custom cobranding for client gifts.

But here’s what Kristy really wants you to understand: there’s a massive opportunity most business owners are sleeping on.

When a project is done—a new roof installed, a house painted, a sale closed, a referral partner feeds you consistent business—most people say thank you and move on. But what if you showed up with something intentional? Something that says you actually care and are genuinely grateful?

A thoughtful, quality gift makes you stand out. The ROI is priceless. It’s the kind of thing people remember.

Four Wings beeswax candles are the cleanest, brightest, and longest burning candles you can find. Whether you’re looking for holiday gifts, table gifts for fundraisers, or that perfect thank-you for a client or referral partner, they deliver.

Connect with Kristy. This is the gratitude gift that actually lands.

Enhanced Electrical Services – Meet this week’s presenter, Victoria Collins.

Enhanced Electrical Services is a local, family-run electrical company that handles the full spectrum of what modern homes and businesses need—from the foundational stuff to the future-forward upgrades.

They specialize in everything lighting: LED systems that cut energy costs, interior task and accent lighting, and outdoor lighting that adds security and function to your property after dark.

Looking to modernize? They upgrade electrical panels to handle today’s power demands, rewire homes for safety and efficiency, and install EV chargers for residential and commercial spaces. They also handle generator installation and maintenance, so you stay powered through outages.

Beyond the big projects, they take care of the details: ceiling fans, pools and hot tubs, smoke detection systems, and electrical repairs—whether it’s a quick outlet fix or rewiring a faulty system.

If you need electrical work done right, with expertise and care for safety and sustainability, Victoria and her team are worth a conversation.

Wisdom from Greg Haupert at last week’s meeting.

Greg posed a question from BNI podcast episode #962 that got us thinking: If your membership cost $5,000 a month, what would you do differently? The answer was easy. More 1:1s. Deeper engagement. Real intention. Don’t leave anything on the table.

Yes, BNI takes time and money. But here’s the shift in perspective: that’s not the cost—it’s the structure and accountability we actually need. It’s what keeps us showing up, present and purposeful.

At the end of the day, we all know how this works. People refer the people they know, like, and trust. That foundation gets built by showing up for each other, week after week, doing the work in 1:1s and in the room.

Treat these meetings the same way you’d treat a sitting with your best client. When you ask for referrals, get specific. Don’t be vague. Specific is terrific, and when you tell us exactly who you’re looking for, this room will deliver.

Thanks, Greg, for keeping us sharp and reminding us what’s really at stake.

Owen Nordberg from WorkGrain Just Showed Us Something Most Businesses Miss

Here’s the problem: You’re using AI, but it’s isolated. You ask it something today with all the context. Tomorrow? Amnesia. You’re back explaining everything again. Your team gets inconsistent answers. You spend more time managing the tool than benefiting from it.

Here’s what actually works:

Your business knowledge needs to be baked into every interaction. Your rules, your structure, your judgment; they can’t disappear after one prompt. They need to be part of the system itself.

That’s what Owen does. He builds frameworks where AI actually remembers your business. Where context persists. Where every output reflects how you actually work.

If you’re spending time on repetitive work that could be handled differently, you need to talk to Owen. Consultants, advisers, coaches, recruiters, fractional executives, agency owners!! If your business lives mostly in your head or you’re the bottleneck, a one-on-one with Owen is going to change how you think about this.

Get your business out of your head. Turn it into something that works for you.

Reach out to Owen Nordberg. WorkGrain.

Ally Johnson with Edward Jones showed up at our BNI Nooners meeting yesterday with a story that hit different.

She introduced us to Gary Preppard and Missy Managed. Same starting point. Very different endings.

Gary Preppard strategized early. He planned with an advisor, invested, thought about retirement at 60, long-term care, estate planning. Retired comfortable at 60.

Missy Managed winged it. Credit cards, no real investments, no plan. Worked until 70. When she needed long-term care, the costs crushed her. And when she passed? Her heirs got tangled in probate for 18 months with nothing but legal bills.

The difference between them wasn’t luck. It was one conversation with a financial advisor.

New job? Baby? Divorce? Downsizing? Getting older? Those are your cues to pick up the phone. Ally’s your person.

Don’t be Missy Managed.

Here’s the kicker: 80% of vehicles need additional parts and labor. Knowing what your policy covers saves you thousands.

Lonny’s been handling this stuff for years, and A1 has a 50-foot paint booth that fits a full RV. That’s the level of work you want when it matters.

Read your policy this week. You’ll be glad you did.

Our BNI Nooners chapter just got stronger.

This week we inducted Andrew Herschbach with Comstock Insurance, filling our commercial insurance seat, and he hit the ground running. The passion and energy he brings to what he does were obvious from day one, and his personality is a perfect fit for this group.

If you’re a business owner, you know commercial insurance isn’t something you want to leave to chance. Andrew is the kind of person who actually cares about getting it right for you. Watch this space, because I have a feeling he’s going to make an impact fast.

A big thank you to Victoria Collins with Enhanced Electrical Services for inviting Andrew to our group. This is what BNI is all about: great people bringing in great people.

Welcome aboard, Andrew! 🎉
