There’s a lot of value hiding in this pile.

Old computers, monitors, cables, and other electronics may have reached the end of their useful life, but many of the materials inside them haven’t.
Responsible e-waste recycling helps recover materials that can be put back into circulation while keeping electronics out of the waste stream.

At 1 Green Planet, we see more than old technology. We see resources ready for their next life.

It was a great weekend of community recycling events at 1 Green Planet!

We love getting out into the community and making it easier for people to responsibly recycle electronics they no longer need. Every device collected is an opportunity to recover valuable materials and keep electronics in a more responsible recycling stream.

According to the EPA, recycling one million cell phones can recover approximately 35,000 pounds of copper, 772 pounds of silver, 75 pounds of gold, and 33 pounds of palladium.

Thank you to everyone who came out to recycle with us this week and to the organizations that help make these events possible.

A pile of old electronics might look like clutter. We see materials with another life ahead of them.

Computers, monitors, cables, printers, small electronics, and other devices contain recoverable materials like copper, aluminum, steel, plastics, and circuit boards. Through responsible electronics recycling, those materials can be separated and recovered instead of being sent to landfill.

At 1 Green Planet, we help businesses and organizations turn outdated electronics into responsibly managed material streams while keeping sustainability and data security in mind.

Have electronics piling up at your office, warehouse or facility? See how we can help:

Ever wonder what happens to your old computer or monitor before it gets recycled? ♻️

It doesn't just go straight into a bin. First, it has to be sorted.

Monitors, keyboards, cables, and computers they're all made of different materials that need different handling. Before anything gets recycled, our team identifies each item and routes it to the right recycling or recovery process.

It's not glamorous work, but it's what keeps electronics (and the valuable materials inside them) out of the landfill and back into use.

At 1 Green Planet, we help businesses and organizations responsibly recycle electronics of all types and sizes. Got old equipment piling up? Let's talk. 📱💻

That old computer collecting dust might be outdated. The data on it isn’t.

Computers that haven’t been used in years can still contain sensitive information stored on their hard drives, including financial records, passwords, personal documents, photos, and confidential business data.

Simply throwing away or recycling a computer doesn’t automatically mean that information is gone.

That’s why responsible electronics recycling should include a plan for secure data destruction.

At 1 Green Planet, we help businesses and individuals responsibly recycle outdated electronics while making data security part of the process.

Before your old technology leaves your hands, know what’s happening to the data it leaves behind.

The one question you should ask before recycling your IT equipment!

Here's the thing: not all electronics recyclers are created equal. Some follow bare-minimum standards. Others? They're operating at a level that actually matters.
When you're upgrading computers, replacing servers, or clearing out old equipment, ask this one question before scheduling a pickup:

"Are you R2v3 certified?"

If they hesitate or give you a vague answer, keep looking.
R2v3 certification means your data gets handled through a documented process (not someone's "best guess"). It means valuable materials actually get recovered and reused instead of getting stripped for parts and forgotten. It means hazardous waste doesn't just get shipped to a landfill as someone else's problem.

It's one of the highest standards in the industry, and honestly, it should be table stakes.

At 1 Green Planet Electronics Recycling, we're R2v3 certified. We've invested in the systems, the training, and the accountability to prove it. Because handling IT asset disposition right isn't optional in our world.
If your organization is ready to do this the right way, let's talk.

Property management teams often juggle multiple vendors for waste, recycling, equipment removal, and logistics. But here's the thing: when vendors don't communicate with each other, your costs pay the price.

Our team recently worked with a property management company to map out their vendor ecosystem. Turns out, they had overlapping pickups and inefficient routing across multiple contractors.

The solution? Route consolidation and smarter vendor alignment. The result: 18% cost reduction in the first year.

If you're managing multiple facilities or properties, it might be worth auditing your vendor stack. Sometimes the biggest savings don't come from negotiating harder; they come from operating smarter.

Curious about your vendor efficiency? We're here to help. Reach out!

Most people see scrap. We see opportunity.

A printed circuit board contains valuable materials like copper, gold, silver, and palladium. In fact, studies have found that high-grade electronic scrap can contain significantly higher concentrations of gold than many mined gold ores.

That's why responsible electronics recycling is about more than keeping waste out of landfills. It's about recovering valuable resources, protecting the environment, and giving those materials a second life.
