More than $1.4 million has been raised for the family of Amin Abdullah, the security guard fatally shot at a San Diego mosque while protecting the lives of more than a dozen children and staff at a school inside.

Abdullah was one of three people killed at the Islamic Center of San Diego, according to the mosque and a fundraiser launched by the San Diego branch of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR).

“He didn’t run. He stood his ground,” CAIR San Diego’s fundraiser said. “In plain words: Amin put himself between the gunmen and everyone inside.”

The other two victims have not yet been publicly identified. An imam from the Islamic Center said all teachers, students and other school staff members who were at the mosque were safe.

Responsibilities
Maintain a visible security presence at the assigned location
Observe and report suspicious activity, safety concerns, and incidents
Conduct foot patrols as assigned
Monitor entrances, exits, and designated areas
Enforce client rules and site policies in a professional manner
Document daily activity and incident reports
Communicate with management, dispatch, and emergency services when necessary
Provide customer service to staff, visitors, residents, or customers
De-escalate situations when appropriate
Follow all company post orders and site-specific instructions
Requirements
Must be at least 18 years old
Must have reliable transportation to and from Woodbridge, VA
Must be able to work Friday through Sunday, 6:00 PM – 1:15 AM
Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods
Must have strong communication and observation skills
Must maintain a professional appearance and attitude
Must be able to write clear and accurate reports
Must be dependable and punctual
Must pass any required background screening
Must hold or be eligible to obtain a Virginia DCJS Unarmed Security Officer registration, if required for the assignment
Preferred Qualifications
Prior security, military, law enforcement, corrections, or customer service experience
Active Virginia DCJS Unarmed Security Officer registration
Experience with mobile reporting apps or electronic tour systems
Ability to remain calm and professional during stressful situations
Pay

This position pays $20.00 per hour.
