Our latest Employee Spotlight is Gary Tomko, a foreman here at Geotex. Here's his interview!
Q: What's your name and what's your title?
A: I'm Gary Tomko, I'm a pipe foreman here at Geotex.
Q: How long have you been working here for?
A: Just shy of a year now.
Q: What's the experience been like working here?
A: It's been positive so far. I've really enjoyed it and everything's going right.
Q: Anything you feel like you've learned while working here?
A: The importance of communication, communicating between the crew, the GCs, communicating with your PM. It goes from the bottom all the way to the top. It's very critical and better having open lines of communication. It's definitely been very eye-opening here.
Q: Anything you're working towards right now?
A: Slowly taking some classes at the BX [The Builder's Exchange] , maybe working my way towards a PM position. I've been working with Bryan Ridge [Vice President at Geotex] to critique my areas of interest on that.
Q: We're an ESOP community. What's ESOP been like for you?
A: Being that it's my first year, it was the first meeting the past couple weeks ago whenever we had that ESOP meeting -- definitely eye-opening that we don't put anything towards the ESOP. It's all company-funded for us, for retirement. Definitely a huge bonus on top of having a 401(k) and a match with [it]. Being an ESOP company and taking ownership and pride in what we do, it matters and I think that's become more and more evident in the last 10-11 months that I've been here. I look forward to it growing and having a year-mark this year.
Q: Any additional thoughts you'd like to share?
A: Just enjoying my coworkers and being around different walks of life and understanding how everything that comes together has a culminating event that makes everything our company that much better. Just looking forward to having a positive 2026 and working through the rest of the year here.
