The last few weeks haven’t gone any way how I expected or thought it would…

I’ve had a couple of clients who haven’t been getting all the results they wanted.

There were some delays in the process and some changes that happened with my team… And that is on me.

I did my best to stay in communication and be clear about the shifts…

It’s been lots of conversations and working through where to go from here.

And it’s been about getting clear on what each client wants…

And the last few weeks have been really tough… because I really care. I care deeply about my clients success, so does my team.

It’s been stressful, sad, frustrating and it’s felt like a lot…I had some sleepless nights, and I’ve felt like my face was in a corner. For a minute, I thought I should shut my own business down, because I was devastated.

Ultimately, we weren’t the right fit anymore… I owned where we made mistakes and I am completing our agreement with integrity and the goal for things to be as simple as possible for each of them moving forward.

This means they get to keep all the things they paid for, their website, they get their files, and they don’t have to worry about me holding onto things that we created for them to begin with.

It’s definitely not perfect, or what I was committed too. And as we complete our current agreement I’m present to a few things…

> Building a business takes courage, and it takes some risks too.

> It was 100% worth the risk because we didn’t fail, we all learned a ton, and we made progress towards the long term goals and the foundations we put in place.

> Success takes growth and growth is about making shifts and changes that are better for my client, and for my team in the long run. And I respect my clients choice to shift directions and to say no.

> The goal is not to blame the other person, or to blame ourselves… we worked together because we cared about each others success. This means being willing to stop working together too. Blame & shame only perpetuate hurt and resentment, and I personally like to get to real resolution so that everyone involved can powerfully move forward.

> We are all humans doing the best we can with what we’ve got and what we know. Sometimes what we don’t know we don’t know or don’t communicate to others can have a massive impact on our ability to stay aligned and succeed together.

> It is each of our rights, as humans, as business owners, to grow, evolve and even change our minds. New context and things bring new awareness and understanding and having open conversations makes a huge difference, even if they are challenging conversations.

> Ending an agreement doesn’t mean you have to light everything on fire and walk away…. Even if you have moments where you feel or think it’s the solution. You can end things on amicable terms and still be committed to one another’s success, and still care about the other person too without trashing them or their reputation.

> Sometimes you aren’t in alignment with each other anymore and the direction has to change… and I grateful that my clients have the courage to tell me when they feel this way.

> I never start an agreement with the idea that we’re going to stop working together, heck most of my clients work with us for at least a 3 years. This is a big reason why we have processes & systems in place the way we do, so my clients can keep what they have paid for.

Ending agreements happens all the time in business, things change, goals and visions change, sometimes businesses close, and sometimes businesses shift so much it doesn’t make sense to keep working together. Like I said we typically work with our clients for a few years, we have a couple who have been with us since the beginning, and it’s also ok if that’s not how it goes.

I didn’t build my business to perpetuate resentment, frustration or fear of failure… I built this so that my clients can be empowered on their journey, even when that means parting ways. It’s pretty simple if things aren’t working and we don’t see a way to make it work, it’s time to go a different direction, and that is ok.

I have always been someone who cares… even when people have told me to just not care, I can’t pretend I don’t.

Which is why even if it’s time to part ways I will do so with mutual respect.

It doesn’t make it easy, and it doesn’t mean I’m not sad about it… but at the end of the day I can look myself in the eyes and know that this is my best, and if that means my clients have a better chance without me working with them then I’m here to cheer them on from the sidelines.

Here’s to growth, change, and moving forward. You don’t have to let yesterday’s lessons stop your success tomorrow… and you don’t have to let endings mean you aren’t worthy of making a difference in the future!

I am creating more group masterminds and programs, both business and personal. My focus is to expand my ability to serve and share the skills I have dedicated my career and life learning.

I see this as a way to increase the impact we each have on the world. Because there are always things we don't know, and we need support to implement what we already know too. Also, it's easier when you have a community that supports you as you grow.

I used to give everything 150% because that’s what I thought I had to do to be valued.

I lived my life jumping higher and higher and hoping to be loved, supported, and taken care of in return.

The truth is my value as a person has nothing to do with how much I give. My worth is there simply because I exist. So this summer I have been sorting out what giving my best means without over giving.

I’m still showing up ready to go, and give 100% and it’s gonna look a lot different than ever before.

Because after years and years of over giving, I realized it’s what’s created the idea that I had to be perfect, better than human, and it perpetuated the idea that I couldn’t say no, and in many ways it had me put my needs and wants last on my list.

I really saw I can’t live a happy life if I kept giving 150% to areas, things or people who give very little in return. I can’t keep giving to people who expect me to put my needs last.

So I decided to change and I have.

Don’t get mixed up… I’m still here to give, I’m still generous, and kind, and I genuinely care about people, my family and friends, and my clients. I will always care about you and your success.

I have a lot of love to offer and share. I also realized it was time to stop giving it in areas of my life that want to fight about it, reject it, or push it away.

I’m fully integrating this now and doing this so I can also show others it’s ok to stop over giving hoping it comes back from things/people/experiences that aren’t actually filling you up.

I told someone a while ago I have too many things I’m up to in my life to do things because I feel obligated, or to put my own needs so far down the priority list they get forgotten.

I’m owning it and I no longer will put myself last on the list. I no longer will forget myself or why I’m here. It’s why I went to Hawai’i and it’s why I’m rebuilding my business in a way that lights me up again.

It's time for a reset, and a rebalance. It's time to focus on what matters most.

This summer has been one of the hardest summers in my business, and quite frankly I can't even tell you exactly why. The more I look at it the muddier it gets. The more I try to "figure" it out the more it feels like it slips away.

Two weeks ago, I decided to stop "trying" to "figure it out", and instead, I started focusing on where I was, how far I've come, and where I am headed.

I started looking at what I wanted to create and how I wanted to show up and serve...

So I started sharing again, it's partly why I created Marketing Mastery, and it's why I'm simplifying my whole business again.

See I'm not who I was when I started 5 years ago, and I am not who I was two years ago, and right now I am definitely not who I was 6 months ago. A lot has changed on the inside and it's starting to shift on the outside too.

One of my friends loves to call this part the messy middle, and that's because it absolutely is.

This spring I felt like I turned to goop, I've been looking deep inside, and shifting things that don't work for me anymore, and I'm not quite ready to burst out of the chrysalis yet, but I know it's not too far off.

I don't know exactly what the future holds anymore, and I'm done overthinking it...

There are 3 things I am certain about:

1. I will be here for it, alive for it, and ready to embrace whatever comes.

2. I am truly blessed to have Katlin Empey by my side through everything in our lives and in our business.

3. I thought I had majorly messed things up, but really I am right where I am supposed to be, otherwise, I would be somewhere else. And that is something to celebrate!

You are right where you are supposed to be. It's a process, it's a journey, and ultimately it's ok to change, to grow, and to become a better version of you, the you that you've always dreamed of.

It's ok to be proud of how far you've come, even if you don't have it all "figured out", or if you still have things to accomplish and create.

You have permission to take some time to acknowledge yourself, celebrate some wins, and see who you've already become.

Ironically, it's a lot easier to take a moment than to push through because from where I'm standing there is no finish line in sight, and for the first time in my life that's a huge relief.

I've finally realized life is not a competition, it's an experience.
