I am the type of person who likes working on multiple projects, and as both a VA and a professor, that basically comes with the job descriptions. Balancing all of life's demands, including work, personal development, family, friends, and self-care, is tough. I am also a horrible multi-tasker! My brain feels like it moves 100 miles a minute, so going back and forth between tasks throughout the day is just plain exhausting. Enter, time blocking.
Over the past few years, I have been doing a deep dive into all things productivity and organization. One of the best lessons that I have learned is how to block out chunks of time in my day. By grouping similar kinds of work together, it has saved my poor, overworked brain from having to go from emails, grading papers, writing SOPs, Zoom meetings, and updating spreadsheets over the span of an hour.
Have you tried time blocking? If so, what are your blocks?
