It's an understatement to say that our team at Knowledge Advisory Group considers it both a privilege and an honor to serve the nonprofit and government sectors. The passion, commitment and determination of individuals and organizations that serve our communities provide daily inspiration. As of today, we've been serving as your "data geeks with people skills" for 15 years, and we look forward to many more.

Tip #5: Prioritize time and resources.

Inclusive data collection requires adequate time and resources, as well as thoughtful planning and communication that respects the needs and boundaries of others.

Homeward's mission is to prevent, reduce, and end homelessness through regional collaboration and coordination of resources and services. 🤝 We're excited to support their efforts by creating a process map for shelter services in the greater Richmond region. KAG will also provide recommendations for future planning so Homeward can continue paving the way for innovative solutions to end homelessness in the community.

Tip #4: Be flexible and adaptable.

Inclusion happens when we consider possibilities that go beyond our own preferences or the ”traditional” way of doing things. Listen to the needs of others and create opportunities that enhance access for them.

Offender Aid and Restoration of Arlington County Inc. (OARA) is a community-based nonprofit that envisions a safe and thriving community where those impacted by the legal system enjoy equal civil and human rights. For 50 years, OARA’s services have helped thousands of justice-involved individuals of all genders, and their families, navigate a safe reentry or avoid incarceration. We’re excited to work on another project with OARA, focusing on the evaluation of a program funded by the Bureau of Justice to improve treatment and recovery outcomes for individuals with substance use disorders.

Tip #3: Offer as many options as possible.

Traditional data collection processes may force participants into “boxes” that don’t feel authentic or respectful. Offer response options that cover a variety of scenarios, allow for multiple responses, and provide choices, such as space for narrative responses and the discretion to skip questions.

Freekind is dedicated to preventing human trafficking and supporting survivors on their journey to freedom. They address both ends of the anti-human trafficking spectrum: working with those who have been exploited and educating youth to help disrupt trafficking before it can begin. Together, we're crafting logic models, evaluation plans, and evaluation reports to help Freekind illustrate how they are making communities safer.
