Today, on the 25th anniversary of September 11th, we pause to remember the lives lost, the families forever changed, and the courage displayed by first responders and ordinary citizens in the face of unimaginable tragedy.
We remember the firefighters who climbed the towers.
We remember the police officers who ran toward chaos.
We remember the emergency medical providers who reached for the wounded.
We remember the men and women who answered the call, many knowing they may never return home.
The legacy of September 11th does not live in our past.
It lives on in every firefighter inspired by those who climbed the towers.
In every police officer inspired by those who helped bring order to chaos.
In every emergency medical provider inspired by those who stretched out a helping hand.
A legacy, and a light, carried by every man and woman in uniform across the country today.
We will never forget.
