🇺🇸✨ Churches, Ministries & Faith-Based Leaders — Here’s a Grant That Can Truly Change Lives ✨🇺🇸
Family, if your church or faith-based organization has a heart for serving our veterans — especially those experiencing homelessness — there is a powerful federal grant open right now that you need to know about.
The U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) Veterans’ Employment and Training Service (VETS) is funding Stand Down Events, which provide employment, social, and health services to veterans who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.
This is real support, real impact, and a real opportunity to serve those who gave so much.
📌 What Is a Stand Down Event?
In the military, “Stand Down” is a moment to pause, regroup, and receive support before going back into the fight.
This grant helps us recreate that moment for veterans in our communities by offering:
- Warm meals
- Clothing and essential supplies
- Employment and workforce services
- Health & wellness support
- Benefits assistance
- Social, spiritual, and community resources
For many veterans, a Stand Down event becomes the turning point that helps them stabilize and return to the workforce.
💰 Funding Available
This is noncompetitive funding — meaning it’s awarded first-come, first-served, not based on scores or rankings. Your organization can receive:
Up to $7,000 for one-day events
Up to $10,000 for multi-day events
Up to $50,000 for events in areas under a federal disaster declaration
The funds help cover event costs, supplies, partnerships, and outreach — everything needed to serve our veterans with excellence.
📌 Who Can Apply?
Faith-based organizations are absolutely eligible to apply.
Your church can host a Stand Down event through:
- Your community outreach ministry
- Your nonprofit arm
- Veteran support ministries
- Partnerships with local agencies, shelters, or service providers
These events are collaborative, but your organization can take the lead in bringing the community together.
📌 What You’ll Need
Before applying, be ready to:
✔️ Describe the event and the services you plan to offer
✔️ Outline how the funds will support veterans in need
✔️ Show collaboration with community partners (VA, shelters, nonprofits, etc.)
✔️ Track attendance and services provided
✔️ Follow federal spending and reporting guidelines
*IMPORTANT: In order to apply for any Federal Grant Funding, you must have an active Sam.gov registration (meaning you must have a UEI and a CAGE Code. The application is long, but it is free to complete).
Note: Any costs before your official start date are not reimbursable.
✨ Why This Matters
Churches and ministries are already serving on the frontlines of our communities. This grant allows you to:
Strengthen your outreach
Bring real resources to veterans in crisis
Expand your impact without draining your church budget
Build meaningful partnerships across the community
Offer a safe, supportive environment for those who need it most
This is ministry. This is impact. And this is a chance to use federal funding to serve those who once served all of us.
