October is National Women's Small Business Month!

Throughout BNI Central Virginia, women are building businesses, leading teams, creating jobs and making a difference in their communities. And behind so many successful businesses is a network of people who believe in them.

This month, let's celebrate the women in our chapters who inspire us, support fellow members and demonstrate the power of Givers Gain®.

💜 Support her business.
🤝 Make an introduction.
🌟 Celebrate her accomplishments.

Tag a woman in your BNI network who deserves a shoutout!

When was your last great 1-to-1?

We see our fellow BNI members every week—but there’s a big difference between knowing someone and really understanding their business.

This week, challenge yourself to schedule a 1-to-1 with someone you haven’t connected with recently.

Go beyond “How’s business?” and ask:

💬 What’s your biggest business goal right now?
🎯 What does your ideal referral actually look like?
👀 What should I be listening for when I’m talking to people?
🤝 What’s one way I can help you this month?

The better we know each other’s businesses, the easier it becomes to recognize opportunities and make meaningful introductions.

One conversation could lead to your next great referral—or theirs.

🌟 Create opportunities for others.
📈 Grow your business and your network.

Here’s to another year of Givers Gain® and all the incredible things we can accomplish together!

What’s one goal you’re setting for your new BNI year?

Your networking challenge this week:

Connect two people who should know each other. 🤝

Two BNI members. A client and a resource. Two professionals who could collaborate.

You don't have to benefit from the opportunity to create it.

That's Givers Gain® in action.

Want more referrals? Make yourself easier to refer. 🎯

Instead of asking for ""anyone who needs my services,"" give your chapter something specific to listen for:

✅ A type of person
✅ A company
✅ A situation
✅ A problem you solve

Clarity creates referrals.

09/09/2026

A referral isn't just a name and phone number.

It's someone saying, ""I trust this person enough to introduce you.""

That's why relationships matter.

Know them. Trust them. Refer them.

September is here — and Q4 is right around the corner.
The relationships you strengthen now can create opportunities before the year ends.

This month:
🤝 Schedule a 1-to-1
🎯 Get specific about your ideal referral
📞 Follow up on an introduction
👋 Invite a visitor

Finish the year strong — one conversation at a time.

September is right around the corner.

Many businesses treat August as a transition month—but smart professionals use it to strengthen relationships, reconnect with clients, and prepare for a strong finish to the year.

Today we celebrate the nonprofits making a difference throughout Central Virginia.

Many BNI members actively support local charities, community organizations, schools, and causes that strengthen our communities.

Business growth is important—but community impact matters too.
