Hi everyone~we have been out helping friends and people we don't know but do now with their homes and working crisis lines from home connecting those we couldn't help to those who could. This storm has brought more than just home devastation and business devastation that has been met with faith and strength above and beyond. We have heard so many amazing stories, worked with some amazing folks and hugged some wonderful new friends all the while counting our blessings. Don't get me wrong, there have been tears but together we can do it. Together we stay strong.

We have been out volunteering and helping with emptying storm damaged homes. We are blessed to be able to work with so many people. Please be careful as you go out and attempt to help others. If you are not sure please call professionals.

That is blue sky peaking out and even the sun made an appearance! I had to pull over for a moment of gratitude. The rain is certainly slowing but the river is still rising. It is set to crest lower here but that is because the levee failed up river. :'(

We are blessed with faith.
We are blessed with great friends who helped us and checked on us during this time.
We were blessed to be able to help care for animals that could not be in shelters.
We were blessed to have the ability to check on others and communicate thru much of this. We lost power in chunks but with backup batteries, car chargers, solar stuff and lanterns we were not too bothered......
We are so blessed that only our carpets are wet and we have a cracked window or two. We have a HUGE mess of limbs and branches to clean but trees are still standing.
I think the scary part here for us is we have lost a good amount of income that we were totally dependant on and 3 clients whose homes are now destroyed. Kids I care for have been hunkered down or evacuated and won't return for a bit because if their parents can't work I don't work.
We are blessed to have not lost our home and belongings to water just a bit of damage but now we need to get the work lined up again to keep it.
We will help rebuild.
