Okay... I've boiled down all the noise into actionable steps. Ready?

So I've been watching the entire marketing industry (ads/outreach/sales pieces/etc.) as they've been REELING (pun unintended) from ChatGPT and LLMs for the last 2 years. I have friends that are leaders in each space > SEO, Outreach, Ads.

Let's get real actionable now.

1. "Be authentic" You've probably heard this again and again. Here's what it actually MEANS >> Show you're human. Personal stories. Analogies. Lessons. The things that go wrong. a.k.a. Show us you're not ChatGPT making your content (more on using ChatGPT in another post).

2. Have a Googe My Business page. It's silly, but seriously - this will help SEO, the information fed into LLMs (ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, etc.). Doesn't matter if you have a website already. Get a Google My Business if you're a local service provider.

3. Double down on nurture campaigns. How's your engagement? Make sure you sound real. There's a lot of noise on socials, everyone's kind of overwhelmed. Email is still a NUMBER 1 converter for new sales.

And they don't have to be complex!

1. An automated email nurture campaign after their visit.

Imagine... you get your hair cut, and if you didn't schedule their next appointment when taking payment, then what? You're waiting for them to call...

No sir. No thank you.

Setup an email nurture campaign. Most CRM's have this function where you can set triggers based on inactive times.

2. Loyalty Program

Visit 6 times and on your 7th receive a free [x].

It's so simple, but as long as it's valuable - people. will. show. up. And you end up with more money than if you didn't provide that free [x].

3. Cancellation call script to reschedule.

Dude.. Why is this not done?!? I've had two calls where I had to cancel due to a schedule conflict and the person who answered goes, "Okay. You're cancelled. Have a great day. -click-"

Uh... what?? No. "Do you have another time that works better?" "Can I pencil you in for the week after?" Or maybe ask some other questions if you think there's something else going on.

But most of my clients don't know to ask the following questions...

Do you know how your ideal customer acts online? What kind of content are they consuming? How would they find you? What do they use when they need something done? What kind of emails do they open? What would incentivize them to take the leap from finding someone online to actually using them in person?

So it's not that you're bad at marketing! You just don't know how to put what you do in a way that builds awareness, affinity, and confidence (know, like, and trust).

I thought this product was a great idea, but then quickly realized there was a fatal flaw...

A lack of anticipation, curiosity, or - to put it another way - tension, created something indulgent - but there was no pull to buy.

When I buy an ice cream, the bottom part is the bonus.

When we're deploying and managing marketing campaigns, the results are the bonus - the tension, the build, is the fun part that makes those results even more satisfying.

As with anything, the more you expect it, the less you appreciate it.

Yeah. Me too. These are just 3. And here's a bonus lesson from my father, which is a different approach to number 2.

"Everyone wants to help me. They just don't know it yet."

So many doors have opened because of these 3(more like 4) lessons.
