I'm happy to say that Baker Development Resources was able to secure a special use permit for the owners of 401 South Stafford Ave in the Byrd Park area. Occupying this long vacant historical corner commercial space with a cafe with outdoor dining will help contribute to the sense of place and overall neighborhood vibrancy while providing a for much needed, walkable neighborhood amenity. Special use permits can be a challenge but kudos here to the owners for working with neighbors and other stakeholders to come up with a conditioned approval that provides for necessary protections while allowing the latitude needed for a successful neighborhood-serving cafe concept.
