We've saved the boss for last! 🙌

We're wrapping up our Team Reliable spotlights with the guy who started it all: Patrick "PJ" Gallagher, Founder and CEO.

For 15 years, PJ has led with an approachable, down-to-earth style, challenging us to grow with excellence always top of mind. And there's never a shortage of laughs along the way.

Here's a little more about the man behind Reliable:

What's on your playlist?
I'm neck-deep in training for an endurance race, so outside of the usual Grateful Dead, I've sprinkled in some Offspring, Tool, and Guns N' Roses.

Where would you take a Richmond visitor?
Probably the Fan for dinner at one of the many great restaurants, then to a Squirrels game.

What are you passionate about outside work?
My family, always, and the Philadelphia Eagles. 🦅

What surprises people about payment processing?
How incredibly complex it is and just how many players are involved in every single transaction.

The key to lasting business relationships?
Accountability and communication. Mistakes are always made, but relationships require you to own up to them and communicate through to resolution.

What captures Team Reliable?
Our most recent holiday party. We did an office Olympics, and the atmosphere was so enjoyable, but also incredibly competitive. Our team truly enjoys being around one another.

What do you enjoy most about your role?
Hearing how we've made a client's job easier. Saving money is great, but streamlining someone's processes makes me proud of our team. Internally, nothing makes me happier than seeing someone take ownership of a role and completely redefine it.

In two weekends, PJ takes on the 29029 Challenge at Stratton Mountain after months of intense training, honoring his niece's legacy and supporting the CKG Foundation's mission to raise awareness for teen mental health.

PJ gives his all to the people and causes that matter to him, and we're grateful for the company he's built and the opportunities he's given us to grow.

It’s time to introduce another member of Team Reliable, and this one may be a little harder to catch in the office. 😂

Meet Oliver Methven, Account Manager and one of the people you’ll often find on the road, connecting with clients and expanding Reliable’s reach throughout Virginia and beyond.

Oliver joined Reliable in spring 2024 and also holds the title of most recently married member of Team Reliable! 💍

Here’s a little more about Oliver:

What’s always on your playlist?
As my Spotify Wrapped can attest, Jon Bellion is always a top two (usually #1) artist in my rotation!

Where are you taking a first-time Richmond visitor?
CarMax Park. I’m biased as a baseball fan, but it’s a huge boost to the Squirrels experience. Plus, you’re a short walk from Scott’s Addition.

What are you passionate about outside of work? Fitness, health, and wellness. I planned to go into physical therapy and even worked in a PT clinic after college. That career path is behind me, but the interest definitely isn’t.

What surprises people about payment processing?
How you accept a payment can directly impact the rate. The same Visa card can qualify differently in person versus manually keyed over the phone. Same card, different rate.

What’s the key to lasting business relationships?
Being willing to tell a client or prospect the truth, even if it means not closing the deal. Transparency builds trust and, ideally, your referral base.

What captures Team Reliable for you?
Our Friday lunches. I’m on the road quite a bit, so I love that our team makes a point to be together at the end of the week. That “non-payments” time makes our communication and teamwork stronger.

What do you enjoy most about your role? Working with so many different businesses and meeting them in person. I love getting on the road and helping businesses put a face to our name.

Oliver plays an important role in growing Reliable’s reach while keeping personal relationships front and center. We’re glad to have him representing Team Reliable wherever the road takes him.

Tomorrow is a big day in RVA, and today Team Reliable is helping get things ready! 💙

The SpeakUp5k is more than another event on our calendar. It’s an important day for our community and one that means a great deal to our team personally. We’re proud to play a small part in supporting the CKG Foundation and its work to raise awareness around teen mental health and remind young people that they are not alone.

Today that means setup. Tomorrow, it means showing up alongside thousands of people walking, running, remembering, and supporting one another.

And there’s still time to join us! Walk-up registration begins tomorrow at 8 a.m., so grab your walking or running shoes and come be part of a really special and fun event. 🍀

After spending the last few weeks introducing Team Reliable, I guess it’s my turn.

Hi! I’m Kristin Stokes VanStory, Director of Brand Engagement, and I’ve been part of Team Reliable for 5+ years. I’m behind much of what you see, from our brand and social media to events, community involvement, and sharing our team’s stories.

A little more about me:

What’s on your playlist?
A lot of Dolly lately, always Kacey Musgraves, but I’m also a “Hey Google, play some music” girlie. I love being playlist surprised.

Where are you taking a first-time Richmond visitor?
Across the T. Pott Bridge from my (south) side of the city. The views, river, and history leave me in awe every time.

What are you passionate about outside of work?
I have two kids, a tween and a teen, who are my fav people and keep me...on my toes?! I also love working out and have a pretty legit garage gym. And thanks, Bravo, for the brain-rot time.

What surprises people about payment processing?
That you have options! We regularly find savings people didn’t think were possible, and sometimes moving to Reliable can literally change how they do business.

The key to lasting business relationships?
Listen as much as you talk and ask about what matters outside of work. (And remember it!) People are more than their job titles.

What moment captures Team Reliable?
Moving into our current office felt like coming home. We put meaningful words on the walls, added our personality, started Friday lunches, and hosted events. It became very “us.” Comfortable, welcoming, and fun.

What do you enjoy most about your role?
Bringing the Reliable brand to life through the years. I love that it reflects our people and that we get to make it our own as we grow and evolve. And yes, we have the best swag out there.

In 5+ years, I’ve watched people grow, get married, have babies, and move through different seasons. I value those relationships immensely and am proud to be part of something that’s always been about more than payments.

We're officially one month out from Stratton.

Cooler mornings, shorter days, and changing conditions mean training starts to look a little different. But that's part of preparing for something hard. You adjust, you keep showing up, and you trust that the work you've already put in has made you stronger for what's ahead.

For PJ and the SpeakUp Race Team, what's ahead is 29,029 feet over 36 hours, all in honor of Cameron and in support of the Cameron K. Gallagher Foundation's work for teen mental health.

One month to go. The mountain is getting very real.
