The insurance company's favorite vendor.
This is from a house fire.
They painted over the charred and destroyed roof, and didn't stop painting at the tarp.
This is why homeowners bring us in to help after a devastating house fire.

Insurance Companies WILL cut corners to increase their profit. They will try to clean items after a house fire-- that absolutely must be discarded.

Would you want these items cleaned, and returned to you? Or would you rather the insurance company provide you money to buy new items?

Initially, the insurance company wanted to replace the roof, and only some of the rooms upstairs. After meeting with their management team, they agreed to a full house gut, and replacement of all contents of the property.

This agreement will allow the homeowner to rebuild their home, and not be forced to cut corners.

This homeowner had a fire in the attic, that burned their entire roofing system. They opted to engage our services for two reasons: 1) He did not have time to fight with the insurance company 2) He did not have the experience to negotiate with the insurance company.

There were a lot of roof that had shingles blow off, and water enter the property. If you had had tree that hit your house, or a house fire-- please reach out to us-- as the advise might differ. These are tips that apply to almost every insurance claim.

Some quick thoughts on the insurance process:

1. Decide if they want to file an insurance claim (Premiums might raise, might be harder to find coverage, other considerations)
2. There is an ABSOLUTE duty to "Prevent Further Damage" -- this means the roof must be tarped, or a temporary repair done. Failure to "Prevent Further Damage" could put the entire insurance claim at risk -- and unnecessarily inflate a restoration project
3. If water intruded into the house, the water might be considered contaminated --which requires separate protocols to properly dry the home-- and clean up the contaminants. The structure must be properly dried to reduce the chance of mold growing in the future.
3. If a few shingles blew off on an old roof-- the insurer MIGHT deny the claim claiming "Wear and Tear". What they are saying is "The roof is old, not storm damage". However, the automatic rebuttal should be "Age is a condition, not the cause. The cause was the storm."
4. Maintain a log of pictures, and receipts. It is incumbent upon the insured to prove their loss to the insurer.
5. If a roof is older, a proper repair might not be possible-- and the only solution is replacement. It might be the responsibility of the insurance company to pay for replacement.
6. If the insurer agrees to replacement -- you do NOT have to take their first offer.
7. You have the right to select your own contractor to repair your home.

The photo below reflects a claim that settled at $290,361.82 (all coverages) that the insurer paid to our insured. It started with a defective dishwasher wire, and causes smoke damage to the entire structure. The homeowner debated if they wanted to be represented or not. Pretty sure they are happy with the end results.

Today, we received a letter from the carrier:
Good morning Jason:

This was a fire loss you assisted our insured, NAME DELETED with as it pertains to the adjustment. I wanted to let you know that we recovered $200,000 from LG, the manufacturer of his dishwasher. The recovery amounts to 68.6% of the overall claim, and as such, we are returning $686.00 of his deductible to him. This is the pro rata amount he is owed. If you could kindly share this information with him, I would greatly appreciate it.
