Today I asked one of our caregivers to stop by the office.
She immediately panicked, thinking she had done something wrong. I felt horrible because I know that pit in your stomach feeling the other shoe is about to drop.
What she didn’t know was that I was surprising her with Caregiver of the Month.
Next time I’ll tamper down the element of surprise. 🫠
When I told her, she started crying. Then I started crying. Reminding her of all the good she is doing, the care she is providing and how much we appreciate her sharing her huge heart caring for our clients when she could be doing so many other things.
In that moment I was reminded that sometimes recognition is about so much more than an award. It’s about someone hearing, “I see you. I see how hard you work. I see the way you care for people. You matter here.”
We talk a lot about leadership in terms of growth, goals, numbers and performance. But some of the most meaningful moments in leadership have nothing to do with a spreadsheet.
Sometimes it’s simply making sure someone who spends their days caring for everyone else knows that they are seen, too.
Today, I got to do that.
Congratulations to our September Cornerstone Caregiving Caregiver of the Month- Jacqueline Bogan- we appreciate you and your heart for serving others. Thank you for choosing to be part of our team! 💗💗
