The older I get, the less impressed I am by things.
A bigger house. A nicer car. More stuff sitting around collecting dust. None of it means what I once thought it would.
But hearing that front door open?
Seeing those little faces come running in like they've been waiting all week to see Grandpa?
That's different.
At this point in life, I don't need much more.
Just more afternoons with them. More noise in the house. More shoes by the door. More hugs before they leave.
You spend years filling a house with things.
Then grandchildren come along and show you what actually makes it full.
