BSS Global was proud to host a reception for Sen. Marsha Blackburn. We had a great turnout of business leaders, elected officials, community stakeholders, and industry partners from across the region. A Laurel, Mississippi native, Senator Blackburn shares roots with many in the room, and it was a real honor to welcome her back home.
Evenings like this matter because they bring the public and private sectors together to talk through the issues shaping our communities, our businesses, and our economic future. As a member of the Senate Finance Committee, Senator Blackburn offered valuable perspective on the tax, trade, and health policy questions driving our economy, and sparked exactly the kind of substantive conversation these gatherings are meant to create.
She was especially candid on national security, energy, and the technologies that will define the next decade. Senator Blackburn has been one of the Senate's leading voices on emerging tech — co-sponsoring the National Quantum Initiative Reauthorization Act to keep America ahead of China in the quantum race, leading a federal framework for artificial intelligence, and pushing to strengthen the nation's nuclear security and domestic energy independence. Her message was clear: American leadership in AI, quantum, and energy is a national security imperative, and the private sector has a central role to play in getting it right.
We were also glad to support Senator Blackburn as she runs for Governor of Tennessee, and we wish her every success in that race. Our thanks to the Senator for her time and to our co-hosts Marie Sanderson and Brian Sanderson for their support, and to everyone who joined us for a great evening of conversation and connection.
