This past Saturday was πŸ¦† World Migratory Bird Day πŸ¦‰ and πŸ¦… Global Big Day πŸ¦ƒ for birding! Don and I got out to see how many species we could find and explore some new & familiar places near our home. We spent most of the day birding & hiking and ended up with 66 species of birds across 7 checklists. It was a beautiful day 🌞 and we ended with an Owl dive bombing coyotes at sunset!

Happy 🌍 Earth 🌎 Day 🌏

I took these a couple years ago and never posted them. I thought it was neat to see the moon through some autumn leaves. Hope you take a moment to treat the earth well today and make an effort to do something every day.

Daisy hasn't been feeling well so I'm posting a throwback photo from our Easter photoshoot many years ago. She was such a good model while I played with my new flash. I think this was close to 10 years ago! Keep Daisy in your thoughts πŸ™

I finally have my OWN garden to photograph! I went out earlier this week to take in all the new life popping up. What a colorful little garden it is! There is so much more to document and I'm eager to see if anything I'm planting will come up. Hope you'll enjoy the journey with me!

It's πŸ¦‹

I'm pretty sure I saw my first butterfly of the year earlier this week, and I hope to see many more! I've got plans to plant a native wildflower garden this spring to attract pollinators to my yard 🌿πŸͺ»πŸŒ»

Several of these images were taken at the Butterfly Pavilion in Colorado, which does important work to show us why insects are so vital to our world. If you've never been, I encourage you to check it out!

Other images are taken at the community garden, while out birding or hiking, and one on our honeymoon last July. The last image also showcases how butterflies can serve as an important food source for birds, too!

It's ! Although it's been an unusual winter in the west, it's still a bit early to plant flowers outside- but there are several plants you can start indoors to transplant soon 🌱 I'll be giving seed-starting a try this year in hopes of growing a few things for us to eat and for the birds to enjoy! As you swipe through, you can see birds and insects love flowers πŸ’

πŸ€ Welcome March! πŸ€

February was fast & furious! Highlights included ~
β€’Surpassing 150 sales on Etsy πŸ›
β€’Watching skijoring for the first time 🎿
β€’Staying on as a "permanent" employee at my Bath & Body Works job πŸ‘Œ
β€’And seeing the arrival of Red-winged blackbirds and Western meadowlarks signaling spring is close! πŸͺΆ

It's been an irregular winter here in Idaho, so being able to see skijoring in Driggs, ID was a treat! They had to make snow for several days ahead of the event, but it was a success and we enjoyed a perfect day!
