We hope everyone has a safe & Merry Christmas!

October is Slow down & move over awareness month, and today is national slow down & move over day. This month & day mean more to us than most will understand, and for the ones that do we are praying for you. For Rahn’s it’s about honoring & remembering Floyd Crespo.

September 25th, 2025 Floyd was taken from us & his family way too soon because a careless driver did not pay attention and give Floyd the space he needed to finish his job. Floyd’s death was preventable and should never have happened.

Any person behind the wheel no matter what size vehicle you are in has a responsibility. When you see any type of flashing lights, cones, flagman or even a vehicle broke down on the side of the road just slow down & move over. Those few seconds that it takes out of your day can make the difference between life and death.

No family or company should have to experience this loss. Slow down and move over so all of the emergency responders can make it home to their families. One second of carelessness can take away so much but one choice to slow down & move over can save lives.

———- I took this from SlowDown-MoveOver SDMO
“Today is not just another day of recognition,” said Paul Libri, President of Slow Down Move Over Inc. “It’s a reminder of the husbands and wives who never made it home. The mothers, fathers, sons, and daughters who were doing their job — helping others — when their lives were cut short by a careless or distracted driver. We owe it to them to do better.”

According to national data, an emergency responder is struck and killed approximately every week on America’s roadways. Hundreds more are injured annually. These numbers represent more than statistics — they are the names and faces of people who dedicated their lives to helping others.
————————

Rest in peace Floyd, we love and miss you every day.

Floyd was death #20 in emergency responders struck by vehicle, since then there have been 5 more to lose their life. Not including the ones who were hit and injured.

TOW OPERATOR STRUCK AND KILLED ON BALTIMORE–WASHINGTON PARKWAY

Slow Down Move Over Inc. Calls for Renewed Focus on Roadside Safety Following Latest Tragedy

BOWIE, MD — October 4, 2025 — The U.S. Park Police are reporting that a tow operator was struck and killed early Saturday morning while assisting a stranded driver on the southbound Baltimore–Washington Parkway near Route 197.

The tragic incident occurred at approximately 12:47 a.m., when the operator was in the process of loading a disabled vehicle onto the bed of his tow truck. According to authorities, a passing vehicle struck the operator while he was performing his duties at the roadside. The driver of the striking vehicle remained on scene and is cooperating with investigators.

“This heartbreaking incident serves as another devastating reminder of why Move Over laws exist,” said a spokesperson for Slow Down Move Over Inc., a national nonprofit dedicated to roadside safety awareness and advocacy for tow operators and first responders. “Every driver has the power to prevent tragedies like this one simply by slowing down and moving over when they see flashing lights or roadside workers. These men and women put their lives on the line daily to help others — and they deserve to go home safely.”

The U.S. Park Police continue to investigate the incident, and the victim’s name is being withheld pending family notification.

Slow Down Move Over Inc. urges motorists nationwide to remember the importance of Move Over laws, which require drivers to move over or slow down for emergency vehicles, tow trucks, and roadside workers. The organization continues to advocate for stronger enforcement, driver education, and protective measures for those who risk their lives serving the public on America’s roadways.
