A major investment in the future of animal care across Starr County.

The Starr County Commerce Association was proud to attend the Community Project Funding Announcement, where U.S. Congressman Henry Cuellar announced $938,000 in federal funding to equip the new Animal Control Facility in La Grulla.

This new facility will serve communities throughout Starr County, providing much-needed resources to improve animal care, address pet overpopulation, and create a safer future for both animals and residents.

We congratulate Pawradise Dog Rescue and Sanctuary and Gloria on this important milestone and recognize their continued dedication to advocating for animals in our community.

A special thank you to Congressman Henry Cuellar for helping secure this investment, Starr County Industrial Foundation President Rose Benavidez, and Commissioners Kiko Perez Jr., Raul “Roy” Peña III, Eleazar Velasquez, and Hernan “Nune” Garza for their continued work and support.

This is an important step forward for Starr County and a great example of what can happen when local organizations, community leaders, and public officials work together toward a shared goal.

The Starr County Commerce Association was honored to be featured by TV Asahi (テレ朝news), one of Japan's largest television networks, in a segment highlighting the impact of recent economic policies and tariffs on our local business community.

During the interview, Adrian Garcia, shared the challenges many small businesses in Starr County continue to face and the importance of supporting the entrepreneurs and families who keep our local economy moving forward.
