I’ve got dozens of new parts I’m developing for 2026 along with this very intregrate oil pump that I’m utilizing new technologies with. I’m actually an analog guy living in a digital world when it comes to this stuff but I have good mates in high positions. In this case the oil pump is scanned and digitized which is extremely accurate (amazing modern technology) and a plastic part is printed out. The printed part is good enough to fit parts to and bolt to an engine for checking. You’ve still gota know your analog stuff to complete the project including adding tolerances. Luckily for me or more like through many years of hands on experience I know what tolerances of holes, mating parts or whatever need to be. I’ve dreamed of making new oil pumps from when I started in business back in 1988 and in 2026 I figured I’m going to pull the trigger and do it. Thanks to my mate Wally’s access and guidance to this technology I’m finally able to make it a reality. Couple that with a good foundry and machine shop it is going down in 2026. I spend a lot of time thinking, talking, doing, penciling, machining, welding, prototyping and pushing that everything I set out to do becomes a reality. Sometimes not on schedule by a long shot but when it’s done it’s done right. This oil pump is no exception. In the end the vintage Indian community wins with many new products. Stop by at Dixon and Born Free these next 2 coming weekends and check them out.

Last Sundays ride covered 155 miles across the Ortega mountains and through the canyons to breakfact with the SoCal AMCA. After breakie a few of us peeled off to the Huntington Beach Conqours car show. Then deal with all the traffic and lights on the Pacific Coast Hwy thru Newport Beach, Laguna Beach, Dana Point, San Juan Capistrano and every town in between. Jeff knew of a cool brewery to relax and get a late lunch snack in San Juan before heading out over the Ortegas. Great spot. I’m not a big city rat race or Orange County lover. Just too many people and too much traffic to enjoy life. Give me the roads and beaches in the South Pacific in New Zealand anytime. The ride back over the Ortega’s was the best. Just the 3 of us (Jeff Moore 1948 Chief and Fritz Harmon 1966 BMW). No traffic, perfect temperature and 3 good bikes on a great dance floor. Good motorcycling ballet. I built my 1948 Vindian from scratch during covid in Australia. For those not sure of what a Vindian is, it’s a Vincent engine put into a 1948 Chief frame. The original Indian factory built 1 prototype in 1948 and all that exists today is 5 factory pics of the bike. Best we know it was crushed. It’s an amazing bike that not only for beautiful looks but also outstanding handling, power and comfort. It is way better than any flathead Indian the factory ever made. I often wonder if Indian had of gone ahead with the deal with Vincent where would they be today. For sure at that time period they would of been way ahead of Harley for decades. It would of smoked the Panhead and shovel heads. Even to this day the Vincent is still a modern day engine. Its great to recreate a bit of history, ride it and dream of what could of been. Kiwi Mike.

I love brazing/bronze welding especially on cast iron. Its therapudic to me. It’s a little more challenging than just plain steel so prep is very important. Preheating is essential and the big areas suck away so much heat it takes patience. I’m not saying TIG or MIG is easy but it feels like cheating compared to old fashioned Oxy Acetelyne welding. Taking something broken and repairing it so it is good, strong and when cleaned up (once it cools down) looks like it never was broken is an art.
