Do you know that your commercial solar project still qualifies for the Investment Tax Credit (ITC)? If you're unsure whether your project remains eligible, now is the time to review your timeline and understand what requirements apply.

After the July 4, 2026, safe harbor deadline, eligibility is no longer about signing a contract or starting construction. For most new commercial projects, the system must be fully installed, interconnected, and producing electricity by the end of 2027 to still qualify for the 30% federal ITC. Depending on project eligibility, domestic content and energy community bonus adders may increase the total credit to 50% of project costs.

Permitting, utility approvals, and interconnection are often the least predictable stages of a project. As such, waiting can significantly reduce your margin for success.

We encourage businesses to verify project timelines early, coordinate closely with utilities, and work with experienced project teams to keep installations on track before this important deadline.
