Fairy Fortune for Wednesday, September 2, 2026

Tristitia Tengu the bird
She offers her wisdom of word
Your sorrow will wane
Find courage in pain
Lamenting is meant to be heard

I do not feel that any emotion is “negative” or “bad.” Every emotion is truth to me. Every emotion is beautiful. Tristitia in Latin translates to sorrow. Sadness and grief are emotions many people fear and try to avoid. I welcome them; especially when they pertain to a particular person. Grief shows me how much someone meant to me. I never want to forget someone like that. When I feel that tight compression in my chest I lean into it. To me, it is almost like an internal hug. An echo of that person’s embrace, or how their laughter made me feel. And I let tears fall without embarrassment. Tears to me signal that I am remembering something true about myself. If my tears are falling in remembrance for someone who has passed from this world, well then, they certainly have shaped an integral part of who have become and who I will be. What an amazing legacy that is to me. So I let people see my tears, I share them. I share the legacy.

When Rubeus Redcap appears

Rubeus the Red Cap is a violent thing, but in many ways, he represents balance. He cuts away that which is no longer needed. He cuts away that which if left unchecked, might poison everything else. I have been known to be wrong. I’m willing to be wrong on a great many issues. Sometimes I really enjoy being wrong, because it leads to profound discovery! There are, however, some matters of personal integrity, that if I am wrong, well, so be it. I don’t joke about violence for example. It is a very serious issue, to me. Some people have told me that I should “lighten up” but I am uncompromising here. The thing is, sometimes, it doesn't really matter who is wrong on a particular issue – only that someone is. That is the question Rubeus the Red Cap forces people to address – can I remain true to myself if I compromise? Am I willing to be wrong? Or is being “wrong” preferable to the status quo.

Conjunction Centaur is wild

His friendship you’ll want reconciled

I have been known to say that ultimately, it doesn’t matter who is “wrong” in a given situation – only that someone is. Pooka, Peri, Fairy…Demon…I have been called all of these things by different humans; all I can say is that I am myself. I am willing to be wrong. Sometimes, I will change how I go about things like the fickle Peri, and sometimes, I would much rather go my own way rather than someone else’s – even if that person is just so sure their way is the only way (maybe especially then!)

I find being willing to be wrong a delightful position to be in. I have this friend coming to visit my bramble enclosed cottage. I shall take her to meet the troll that lives down the road. We shall sip tea and talk of magic. I was so sure once, that my way was the right way that I left her to go her way alone. I ended up trying her path in the end. I liked it much better than the one I was on. I’m so glad my friend is coming and that I cleared enough of the brambles away so that she can see my cottage door. I have decided that second chances can be beautiful things! Sometimes.

A tricky thing that sometimes…just make sure that second go is beautiful they aren’t always…those sometimes…

A Show! Is Acquisitio!
A gluttonous Alicanto
The more she procures
The less she endures
The weight of her fate in escrow

Acquisitio the Alicanto is a bird spirit that feasts on silver and gold. Truthfully, I’m a bit hard on the pretty thing. She’s a bit flashy, and loud, and quite often when she starts eating a tasty vein of ore, she just wants another one! But how can I blame her? When I am eating peanut butter ice cream and I find that perfect ribbon of peanut butter? Oh! I just want to scrape to the bottom of the carton to find them all! Don’t you?

Acquisitio reminds us that wealth (not the “ask the spirits for abundance! Not wealth!”) real wealth, is not something anyone should be ashamed of, particularly in the context of a fair exchange for a talent or service. No one is a hapless employee who can be replaced at any moment by someone else at any moment and therefore should grovel before the manager sacrificing time needed for personal care to “prove” they are worthy. Everyone has value to offer! And it is well to put a fair price on that personal worth! Sometimes the value needs to be tweeked a bit, and new skills learned to increase potential. However, feeling that a certain dollar amount cannot be openly discussed is no way to live out loud. I hope everyone feels as beautiful as our sparkling Alicanto.

She’s cunning the Cailleach Carcer
Her pampering tricks will ensnare
Face isolation
And limitation
Enslaved by the spell of her stare

It is not lost on me that I have been absent not just from the festivals I love so much, but also from social media. And the times that I have been on social media have been…a bit all over the place recently! If my jewel-toned hair had not developed a brilliant stripe of white, I might say that I feel a bit like the Summer Maiden the Princess Aurora who due to Carcer the Cailleach’s twisted spell lies asleep inside a castle hidden by overgrown bramble. I am no maiden my fair friends, nor do I want to be. I am decidedly curious to know more of what it means to be here and now – an equal to the wizened Carcer! I did not sleep through my Maiden days, I have many tales to tell of that time – wild adventures! Some larks, and even some romances here and there. I love stories, even when they are sorrowful and sad…maybe especially if they are so. Sorrow though, I have learned to be more careful with that beautiful art; for apparently even with my white stripe, I caught the watchful eye of Carcer the Cailleach! I admit that my cottage is overgrown with brambles. It does not take 100 years for those pesky weeds to grow…give them even a year and a castle’s splendor will start to be shadowed. The Princess Aurora of today is so easily distracted by princes waging wars on Dragons…I can understand why…my, my, my, what a beautiful piece of humanity some of they are to look at aren’t they? Especially when they dance so beautifully after they put down that bloody sword. But I have no need to slay the Dragon, I’m currently helping her reshape some melted gold. I’m also trying to convince her to get a cat…or six…like me! The brambles though…that I must address. I’m not opposed to a prince’s help, but I know it will feel good to clean out at least some of those brambles myself. Good thing I dreamed of some lovely new hairstyles to tie up my hair so I can get to work!

Fairy Fortune for Friday, August 21, 2026

The Dragon now holds you in sight
You freeze in such fright at your plight!

Her favor will wake appetite

Hmm…the return of the Dragon…well, well, well! She’s interested! She wouldn’t pay such rapt attention for hopes and prayers, she is keen towards action! She was interested in a guardian to keep those pesky thieves away and it would seem that a candidate has made an appearance. Friday’s are tricky days - it’s easy to get stuck daydreaming of weekend plans (even if the plan is a comfortable pair of pajamas and a couch with a napping cat on it). However, it is a bit dangerous when the Dragon turns to face you, one wrong turn and instead of her curiosity, she might change her mind and place you on her lunch menu! Power through on Friday (at least until after lunch) and work diligently. Help comes in unexpected places, so be on the lookout for a worthy companion.

Puella the Peri appeals
But always she changes her deals
She’s fickle and feigned
And hardly restrained
You’ll never predict how she feels

Puella the Peri is all about changing her mind. She loves to try new things…ahem…new lovers too…with time limits. She sets a date in her mind how long she’s willing to try something, and then, once she reaches that arbitrary date, she asks herself if she’s found the journey so far entertaining. It’s not sorrow that will scare her away, mermaids have gifted her jewelry from the pearls they weep from their eyes. No, it’s coldness. Per’s are from the hot desert, she doesn’t like frosty chills much…although snow is magic to her, so, one needs to be cautious when dealing with the fickle Puella. First and foremost, Puella goes where her attention is most called, and those who persistently beckon are nearly always rewarded with her affections. Even if they are temporary, her love is sure to be memorable.

Fairy Fortune for Thursday, August 19, 2026

The Dragon has shown you her tail
Your words she finds stagnant and stale

It’s time to suspend
Conclude what done and set sail

Endings can trigger a sense of loss. Sometimes there is a longing for hopes and prayers that were left in the care of someone else, or to the forces of chaos. Before one realizes how fragile hope is, one day what was once thought to be a potential possibility, becomes an unlikely probability as time passes. And time does pass quickly! Or perhaps it’s not so much as time’s speed, as it is hope’s effervescent nature. Hope floats so easily, those hopes and prayers are soon out of reach. The Dragon doesn’t much care for hope. She gathers her valuables around her in tangible piles and sleeps on top of it! Her challenge though, is inadvertently melting one of her favorite pieces when she violently decides to punish a would-be thief of her treasure. She weeps when that occurs…doubtfully for the thief. Endings are an opportunity for self-reflection, melted gold can be reshaped a multitude of ways. Although perhaps employing a cat as an additional guardian might be a worthy investment…I hear they work for cream…

I feel there are more elements. Life starts out as conceptional doesn’t it? It’s an idea…or an accident. You have to have water that flows and dirt that is grounded. If you have that together you’ve got mud that can be molded. But whose dream is going to mold that clay? Eh? And clay requires movement. The ground shakes when a baby is born. And a baby cries they vibrate the air.

And what eases a baby’s pain of being separated from their ground? Why milk of course. Fuel must come before the fire of learning. And with fire comes metal. Where is your mettle? And Glass…although glass can exist without the hand of man. Water and earth both can make reflections. Last is the wood…it was there all along but the baby was too little to notice it.

Dirt, Water, Mud, Bone (Mystery), Air, Milk, Fire, Metal, Glass, Wood - these are the elements of matriarchy

I am safe for your children. Here is how you can know that is true: I expect you to be with your children when you visit with me. Unless we set a time limit for them to be 💯 in my protection. I am an expert at physical safety. I admit I could be better at emotional safety, which is why I prefer time limits.

And I have experienced lost children multiple times. And YES I did take them far away from their parents sometimes. Isn’t strange that a police officer can be a fairy who steals a child, because just like that haunting song I sing that child’s world was “full of weeping.” But most lost children who came to me, I dropped everything I was doing to find YOU.

BUT I have no control over this video and I am not wearing my sparkly makeup up singing your child’s favorite Disney song here. And yet, maybe they SHOULD watch it. Maybe your children should watch it, especially if they are 13 and older. But certainly if they are not yet 10 I EXPECT YOU to watch it first.

You can still call me Ruby Ruse. It is absolutely one of my favorite names. You need to understand that I’m a bit like Gandalf. Not the Gray but when he turned white…
