Tonight, my daughter said, “Mom, make it about you, go and celebrate this accomplishment.” So my family stepped in like I knew they would and made space for me to take in this moment.

Congratulations to all the nominees and the legacy leaders who were celebrated on tonight at the NAACP West Palm Beach Branch 2026 Freedom Fund Gala. Fabulous evening of excellence on display.

Thank you to the nominating committee for the opportunity, because if one thing was evident, we were all winners on tonight.

During our August Board meeting, we voted unanimously to keep nominations open, and I can only imagine how much more excellence we can add to this already incredible team!

The YWCA Palm Beach County Board of Directors brings together leaders from multiple sectors across our community, united by a genuine commitment to service and our mission.

As President, my commitment is clear: we will grow, we will make an impact, and we will lead with purpose. Together, we are focused on strong governance, long-term sustainability, and greater mission impact.

The day I received the call that I was a nominee for the NAACP_WPB Branch Community Impact Award, I was overwhelmed with excitement and gratitude.

And yes, despite the little hiccup with the original flyer - it is me! 😊 So many of you reached out to confirm, and I appreciate the love, encouragement, and excitement you have shared with me.

The NAACP has long been a powerhouse in our community, advocating for justice, equity, and opportunity for all. To be recognized by an organization with such a powerful legacy makes this nomination especially meaningful.

As we prepare to come together for the 2026 Freedom Fund Gala, I extend my sincere gratitude to the nominating committee for this esteemed honor.

Today, YWCA Palm Beach County Board and staff proudly stood alongside community organizations and advocates committed to ending domestic violence as we received a proclamation from Palm Beach County Commissioner State Senator Bobby Powell recognizing October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month in Palm Beach County.

We are grateful to our County leaders for this important recognition and to every organization, advocate, survivor, and supporter who continues to stand against domestic violence.

At YWCA Palm Beach County, this work is at the heart of our mission. Through Harmony House and our domestic violence services, we remain committed to providing safety, support, and hope while advocating for a future where everyone can live free from violence.

Together, we can raise awareness, strengthen support for survivors, and continue working toward safer communities.

As President of the YWCA Palm Beach County Board of Directors, I’m on a mission to fill the room with leaders who believe every survivor deserves safety, dignity, and the opportunity to begin again.
