A vendor told us something recently that revealed more than they intended:
“If you want control over your assets, then we’re no longer your marketing team.”
We weren’t leaving.
We were taking ownership.
Once you see it, you can’t unsee it.
Many businesses think they own their website, their data, and their systems.
But often, DNS, hosting, access, and integrations are controlled elsewhere — quietly creating dependency.
When you ask for control, you don’t get a technical response.
You get resistance.
Not because it’s personal —
because it’s structural.
Control = revenue.
Loss of control = loss of revenue.
We’ve chosen a different model:
Build systems people fully own.
Document everything.
Make ourselves removable.
Because if it breaks when we leave,
it was never yours to begin with.
