When you start dating someone new, all that attention can feel pretty wonderful. Especially if it’s been a while since you’ve felt that kind of excitement.

And sometimes it really is the beginning of something special.

But there’s a difference between someone who’s genuinely interested in you and someone who’s trying to rush a connection.

Take your time. You don’t have to rush into anything just because someone else is moving quickly.

If you’re dating in your 50s, 60s, or 70s, I know it can get frustrating.

Especially when you feel like you’ve tried everything and you’re still not meeting the right person.

But here’s something I wish more people could see. At my speed dating events, I watch people who have been disappointed before show up, give it another try, and sometimes make a real connection.

It happens. And I love getting to see it.

So don’t give up just yet.

I read the match cards after every one of my dating events, and I’m in the room watching it
happen. The people who get the most matches are doing the same three things: giving someone
their great eye contact , leaning in, and asking a follow-up question. Very little of it has to do with looks
or age. When was the last time someone really made you feel heard? Tell me in the comments.
