๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŽ‰ : Today we celebrate freedom and reflect on the significant moment in history when the last enslaved African Americans learned of their emancipation. Letโ€™s honor this day with joy and a commitment to equality and justice for all.

๐Ÿšจ Did you know:

Juneteenth marks the day, June 19, 1865, when Union soldiers arrived in Galveston, Texas, and announced the end of the Civil War, ensuring the freedom of all slaves in the state.

The period after Juneteenth is known as the โ€˜Scatter.โ€™ - Undeterred by the recommendation to remain in place, many former slaves left the area during the original reading. In the following weeks formerly enslaved people left Texas in great numbers to find family members and make their way in the postbellum United States.

๐ŸŽฏ Celebrate:

1) Participate in local Juneteenth festivals, parades, and educational events.

2) Support Black-owned businesses and artists as a way to celebrate the culture and contributions of the African American community.
